	It should but be sure you read all the stuff
about installing Linux onto a UEFI platform.
	You should be able to make room for Linux
by using the Windows partition editor.  Once
that is done you need to switch the Firmware to
Legacy settings,

	Mageia 5 went on my HP Pavilion 15n225nr without
a problem, I boot Knoppixe 7.6.1 on it as well and it has
no problems.  I try out lots of distributions on it in
the course of my activities with SF-LUG and seldom
have problems.
	Your computer has practically the same hardware
as mine as far as I can tell from online specs.
	My cpu is an A-10. yours is an A-8
	I have the same Radeon GPU.
	I had more room on my hard disk that yours and most
of it was the Damned Microsoft program launcher.  I started
with reducing the partition devoted to Windows from over
600 GiB to less than 60 GiB, had Mageia 4.1 installed using
about 130 GiB with separate partitions then installed 5.0
alongside it with essentially the same layout.
	Oh and I added a partition which I called X for the
transfer of data, et al, between Windows and LInux.
	I labeled my Linux partitions as M4.1 and M5 so
that I knew where I was going to put stuff using the GParted
live distribution.
	Waiting for the announcement of the Mageia 6 beta
versions later this year.  Will only have to change
4.1 to 6

About which machine?
HP Pavilion 15n225nr IS the machine I work on every day.

HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab008ng is what you had written
as the subject of your initial post.

I went online and looked it up.

	Now HP is a manufacturer which has lots of similar
machines with all the variations from AMD A-6 through
Intel i7s with the same general model names but quite a
wide range of internals.

	Now the only problem is that if your real specs
above is that NVidia GeForce 940? It may not yet have
a driver but that is unlikely.  NVidia has it own drivers
available for Linux users to download the last I looked
which is now about 2 years ago.  If the Linux you try out
runs without getting this driver then it was either included
or a Open Source alternative is available.  I found this
reference which is just over a year old,

	What I suggest is trying out the latest version
of Knoppix which will run live and which can easily be
written to Flash Drive.  If it does not have the drivers
for your NVidia then you might have wait until newer versions

firmware settings in the UEFI package to legacy and
shut off Secure Boot only.

	Am assuming perhaps that you know how to download
an iso file and write it to disk?  Distrowatch.com is
a good place to download via HTTP or Torrent if you have
that capability.
	If you have further problems I advise searching
for a Linux Users Group in your vicinity.

option and if it cannot properly detect your hardware don't
bother to try to install it.

Nvidia is running with Linux but this Notebook will possible have Nvidia
Optimus. The question is, can I select GPU in Bios? Nvidia or Intel?

	Well no but the hardware detection and install should take care of this 
and with Mageia and I would suppose most other distributions the GPU in 
use can be decided by the NVidia graphic configuration tool
menu but it is somewhat unusual to have two GPUs in a notebook.
	Now in a desktop motherboards often come with an Intel chip
which may later be supplemented by a GPU on a card.
