#798 — Printer stopped to work

After a system upgrade my HP Laserjet CP1215 stopped to work.

I tried to install/disinstall hplip, ghostscript-gpl, dbus and cups 
several
times, purging configurations files, without success.
I tried to re-run hp-setup after every installation, in order to install
the required propietary plugin.
I tried too to use old versions of each package, with the same result.

My distribution is a Gentoo, but i tried to use, other than the gentoo 
packages,
the source tarball downloaded from this site.

When i try to print something, using my unix account or the root one,
i receive in the Web GUI the following message:
"/usr/libexec/cups/filter/hpcups failed"

I don't know if the crash of hpcups with signal 11 concerns something

Signal 11 usually means that something is seriosly wrong with that binary.
The program is trying to access memory that it should not access.

If you don't have the complete source for your driver HP might be the only
ones capable of debugging your problem.

the HP CP1215 seems to be a brain-dead "Host-based" printer. You probably
did not pay much for the printer. Next time you are buing a printer it
might be worth looking for keywords like "PostScript" (prefered) or "PCL"
in the specifications. Those printers are usually a little more expensive
(maybe twice the price), but if time has any value for you it might be
worth the extra purchase cost.
