Hello Ant! Friday June 24 2022 20:44, Ant wrote to All: Do not use the drive until you have a NEW drive of at least 2Tb. Avoid the low cost drives like Purple and try and get say a Black with a 5 year warranty. Do not know what Purple is but it is low grade than Red and that is only 3 years. Then and only then try and make a back up of it on to the new drive (having run partition and format etc). IN the mean while not use that drive and disconnect it from the system - both cables. It will fail very shortly, if not, at some point the next time it is used. If you have a back up use that instead. Interesting that is has done 45430 hours which is so only been running for 5.18 years. Mind you I have no idea of the life cycle for Purple drives but that might be good for the type. Just had a look at my primary Red 3 TB and that's on 72,288 hours and other one on 42,903 on 10 minutes spin down, with one Black 1 TB, on 8994 but that is not normally spun up and in any event spins down after 10 minutes of non use. Oh just checked the 850 SSD and that's on 44,208. That does not mean that the drive doesn't work anymore, but it means that at least some sectors ARE already broken. I recommend backing up data at least one time a week and maybe run a RAID.
