AFAIU, there're two options (those aren't solutions, so far):

[*] Modern kernels have to be told that there's something.  There're
    "helpers" for common cases.  Probably, it's not common case.

[*] There's nothing to mount.  Or not yet.  Because,

If there's block special for windopws, probably, "windopws drivers" spit
somet special magic into phone, and phone obeys.  Just like with that
Zeor-CD thing.
