I've decided to go with the Canoscan for the reasons you cite. It's
annoying that there are now hardly any standalone scanners made these
days, at least at the lower end of the market. Until recently the Lide
100/110 wasn't supported by sane, but now it is (vuescan too), so I hope
it will work OJ.
