Correct... the charges were about his affair (and the associated perjury
and his pushing for others to lie about it, too). But in my above
question I did leave out his pushing others to lie, and I think that was
the bigger deal.

It seems things went with his affair as they often do in COLA... a small
thing grows into a bigger and bigger bit of nonsense as people focus on
the meta-debate and then the meta-meta and the comments made in those
debates and in the midst of it all the original discussion is lost.

Clinton's affair snowballed into his being impeached, in part from his
own dishonesty and in part from the politically motivated selective
enforcement of the law.

Do you have an example of another president who lied to a grand jury
and but did not have impeachment proceedings started?

Already quoted Trump lying under oath (either he did not forget what he
claimed to, or he lied about having a good memory). You rejected that.

But in general, people rarely are charged with perjury.

Where was the lie?

In general, presidents rarely testify before a grand jury. But
when they do, and they lie, they are impeached.

The ones quoted which you excused and rejected. And will continue to. Of

Have any been impeached for such and not been acquitted?

The only two presidents ever impeached were both acquitted,
and Clinton's was the only one involving grand jury perjury.
If Nixon had been impeached, he probably would have been
convicted though.

The fact that it takes 2/3 majority of the Senate to convict --
the same as required for amending the Constitution -- means
that, accounting for the current political climate, that will
never happen, no matter what happens in the mid-terms.

Right... where we know Clinton was not.

It is not likely, but it is possible... though if the Democrats remain
as stupid as they were in 2016 it certainly will not happen and we might
even get Trump for another four years. The modern DNC is THAT incompetent.

I agree one can be actually guilty but not legally so, but on this I
think it was a politically motivated charge pushed with selective
enforcement. Perjury charges are generally not pursued... in this case
they were. Over an affair. An affair that should not even have been a
focus.

When do you think it was great?

One challenge the two sides have is progressives want equal rights for
all, a greater tie between productivity and financial gain, more focus
on science and evidence-based policy, and less income redistribution.
Those on the right will NEVER agree to such things (and the corporate
Democrats are almost as bad).

Ah, when blacks and women and poor white males had far fewer rights. I

Clinton _was_ impeached regardless of what Michael Glasser says.

Of course he was... over lying about having sexual relations with
someone other than his wife (an affair).

Yup. Backs EXACTLY what I have been saying:
     -----
At 1:22 P.M., the House of Representatives approved, 228 to 206, the
first article of impeachment, accusing Mr. Clinton of perjury for
misleading a Federal grand jury last Aug. 17 about the nature of his
relationship with a White House intern, Monica S. Lewinsky. [Roll
     call, page 36.]
     ...
A second article of impeachment, charging Mr. Clinton with
obstruction of justice, passed on a narrower vote of 221 to 212. It
accused him of inducing others to lie in order to conceal his affair
with Ms. Lewinsky. This time 12 Republicans voted no, while 5
     Democrats voted yes.
     -----

All you 'proved' here is that you don't know the difference between

I think perjury is the offense of willfully telling an untruth in a
court after having taken an oath or affirmation. Lying, of course, is
the same thing but outside of a court context.

What about you?

Why did you just write to Slimer that your "evidence" here
"Backs EXACTLY what [you] have been saying" when you
never said Clinton was charged with perjury?

If we go by your 'evidence yardstick', as used on Trump, you
must be "lying" here, right?

All along the language from you was "lie", "lying and "affair"
when in direct reference to Clinton, never "perjury". In fact,
that I see, you only used that word once, to point out how
"people are generally not charged with" it.

As the guy who made the distinction my position is evident.

Yeah, and the "mainstream press" continually told us it was "none of our
business." What happened to THAT "mainstream press?" Looks like it depends
on whose ox is getting gored.
