I upgraded my Ubuntu 10.10 systems to 11.04: * No GRUB problems; * no Pulse Audio problems; * no Video driver problems; * no Battery problems. Did the mentally ill Wind-droid copy his "issues" from bug reports < 2 years ago or just made them up? Say it ain't so! Kind regards, ML2MST (temporary using a DUN connection over Bluetooth on Mobile Phone, using Ubuntu 11.04)

Total lack of proof on your part noted. IOW "works for me". This is going to be like shooting humans in a barrel sMarti, and you know it. But thank you for giving me the opportunity to seed the search engines with some facts about how much Ubuntu 11.04 sucks. These are just the first hits I get. There are plenty more to choose from. Grub: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1744374&highlight=grub "My /boot/grub/menu.lst is updated after I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04. But the boot loader shows me my previous linux kernels 2.6.35-22 instead of 2.6.38-8. I have used the command sudo update-grub to regenerate grub but it doesnt reflect in my boot loader. I have uploaded my /boot/grub/menu.lst here. Please advice Thanks Anil" Pulseaudio: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1745953 "Sound output is gone and I tried everything from the sticky post, from here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting and several other similar posts in the forum. The problem seems to be the following- 1. ALSA detects the soundcard snd-hda-intel 2. PulseAudio gives a "Dummy Output" Result: No output sound." "No avail yet. Re-installed OS. Went back to 10.04 (when it was working) still nothing. I have temporarily switched to Windows and running ubuntu on a virtual box. Sound works fine in Windows." Video Drivers: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1728783&highlight=black+screen "Hi, I upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 a couple of days ago, and after grub it goes straight to black screen. I am running a Aspire5736Z,Intel Pentium T4500, Intel GMA 4500M card x64 bit machine. Had no problems with Ubuntu 10.10, worked perfectly. I notice quite a few other people have similar problems, but no resolution yet. Has anybody been able to ete this fixed?" Battery Problems? Not related directly to 11.04 unless there is something I missed. There have been numerous threads in COLA the past week DOCUMENTING POOR BATTERY LIFE with Linux in general. It's a fact....Do the reasearch yourself. So there you have it folks, a perfect example of two different tactics used by the Linturds to try and boost Linux's image. 1. LIEing for LIEnux, which is what sMarti is doing. 2. Lieing by omission. Which is what Liarmutt and William Poaster are doing claiming they don't see any of my posts. Sure, we believe them. Don't we? Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! How true! Did sMarti really think that I, and you would be posting stuff that we couldn't back up with links? Jesus, we post the links right with the post!!!!!!! He's got to be kidding if he thinks he can get away with that huge LIEing for LIEnux thing. Yet, notice who comes right out of the woodwork LIEing by omission. Liarmutt and Poaster. They know dam well all that stuff has been backed up but they claim they don't see it which is the same thing as lying. I'll bet sMarti is over on Slimwowitz's channel asking for advice right now. BTW Gooblin thinks we are giving publicity to their audio and video casts. Hahahahha! We are laughing and so is anyone else who stumbles upon it which is the reason I post it in the first place. As long as they all sit in a circle patting each other on the ass wrt the "great work" they are doing, they will never realize that out in the wild, IOW the other 99.99 percent of the populous, they are considered laughing stocks. That's why I post about them. -- flatfish+++ Please visit our hall of Linux idiots. http://linuxidiots.blogspot.com/ Watching Linux Fail: http://limuxwatch.blogspot.com/ Desktop Linux: The Dream Is Dead "By the time Microsoft released the Windows 7 beta in January 2009, Linux had clearly lost its chance at desktop glory." http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/207999/desktop_linux_the_dream_is_dead.html

How true. They lie through their teeth for an operating system? Doesn't make sense to me. One only has to spend 5 minutes in the Ubuntu forums or better yet on the Ubuntu irc to see that there are massive problems with Ubuntu 11.04. And the sad part is much of it is the same old stuff. Multiple monitors. Grub Pulsaudio and so forth. Why can[t they fix this stuff? Why? Because they decide to put their resources into yet another desktop environment, Unity. What a waste of time. And this is the problem with the Linux community in general. They are always concentrating their efforts on the wrong stuff.

Why would we need to lie. On the other hand, you have to engage in hearsay.
Enjoy your true DOS Lemming moment Hadron.
The last ALSA problem I had was a muted mixer. Nearly thought it was
something more sinister due to all of the FUD that gets slung in here.

I upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04 $ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade It took almost 3 freaking hours (I have both Gnome and KDE installed), plus a lot of emulators (DosBox, DosEmu, ModEmu, BasiliskII, Hatari, OpenMSX, PlayOnLinux/WinE, UAE, VICE), development environments (Eclipse, Lazarus, Gambas2, Kdevelop etc) and loads of games. KDE SC 4.6.1 ran just fine, right out of the box, using the Free Nouveau driver, with all the eye candy bells and whistles (like the cube and transparency). Unity failed. Yet after responding to the "Proprietary hardware drivers" pop-up (Jocky), I installed the Nvidia Binary blob, rebooted and Unity works like a charm. Repeating a lie won't make it any more true.
I can trust my own experiences, or some jackass in a usenet group.
So can anyone else infact. This is a great thing about Linux. You don't
have to take my word for it or yours. You don't even have to install anything
either. You can just run Linux in a free VM product or boot it straight off
the install media.
You can try it risk free and see for yourself.
You don't have to trust the firsthand accounts of the Zealot or the 3rd
hand web postings from the Lemming Troll.

They are not 3rd hand. They are a FLOOD of posts, first had, to the Ubuntu forums ASKING for help because the crap ware is so bad. They often include all types of evidence to substantiate the claims Compare that to sMarti, or TOMB who claim "works for me". Which one do *you* think is more credible? Like I said, you are an idiot Jeb. And it's not a lie. It's a fact.
