I guess I had you pegged wrong. You are a fundie and you're just
butthurt because you're getting called out on it.

NEWSFLASH: So called "Christian nations" are now secular societies.

If you want a theocracy, go move to Iran. Good luck with that.

[deletia]

You can do what you like in your churches and temples. The moment you
step outside you have to conform to modern standards of behavior and law.

Although "equality under the law" is hardly a "modern" thing in the
Anglo-Saxon tradition.

You're a crank, it's in your nature to get it wrong. That's alright, you
CAN be cured. First you have to accept the fact that you are an anti-
Christian crank -- a kind of "snit" on this subject. That, alone, should
horrify you and shock some sense into you.

And their policies kill far more people than the beheadings some are
obsessing about. It is not that anyone is defending the beheadings, it is
just insane to say those deaths count and others do not.

What's insane is trying to draw a moral equivalence with Christians
participating in a secular war by virtue of their demographic
representation, and Muslims killing in the name of their religion.
The modern wars being waged by Western powers in the Middle East have
nothing to do with any religious "Crusade" -- and even the historical
Crusades were only a natural and much belated response to 500 years of
Islamic aggression in the region.

Christians are looking to kill people, too. And the DO kill people.

Yet they invoke the name of the Christian deity to defend them.

Source? Are you kidding me? Get a history book. The First Crusade
didn't start until 1096. Islamic Conquest of the Middle East had
been going on since 623.

Let us start with Bush and Cheney. Heck, you can add Obama to that list,
too. Sure, he killed fewer in the name of the Christian deity but that is
not exactly a great endorsement.

And this gave them right to kill Jews and others?

Prove it, especially since we have since established that countries
where religion does not interfere with the state are NOT Christian
countries.

No, they don't. Bush did, and the world has since established that he

A government does not need to be tied to a religion for people of the
religion to cause harm. A BIG example of a war which was pushed by many
Christians (though certainly not all) and was waged in the name of the
Christian deity was Iraq. It was a disaster... but even if you disagree, it
is clear millions died in the name of the Christian deity.

Much of the Christian right backed it. But, sure, not all Christians did...
just as not all Muslims back the violence of some Muslims.

What part of this do you think is being questioned?

The First Crusade (10961099)... regain the Holy Lands taken in the Muslim
conquests of the Levant (632661).

That is like pushing a war NOW over things that happened in the 1600s!

And then there is this tidbit:
    -----
The Crusaders arrived at Jerusalem, launched an assault on the
city, and captured it in July 1099, massacring many of the city's
    Muslim, Christian, and Jewish inhabitants.
    -----

And this:
    -----
At a local level, the preaching of the First Crusade ignited
violence against Jews, which some historians have deemed "the
first Holocaust".[65] At the end of 1095 and beginning of 1096,
months before the departure of the official crusade in August,
there were attacks on Jewish communities in France and Germany. In
May 1096, Emicho of Flonheim (sometimes incorrectly known as
Emicho of Leiningen) attacked the Jews at Speyer and Worms. Other
unofficial crusaders from Swabia, led by Hartmann of Dillingen,
along with French, English, Lotharingian and Flemish volunteers,
led by Drogo of Nesle and William the Carpenter, as well as many
locals, joined Emicho in the destruction of the Jewish community
of Mainz at the end of May.[66] In Mainz, one Jewish woman killed
her children rather than see them killed; the chief rabbi,
Kalonymus Ben Meshullam, committed suicide in anticipation of
    being killed.[67]
    -----

Did you even skim your own source? What part do you think *I* am denying?

Comes down to you are biased and think Christians are somehow better than
other religions. Nope. There are good and bad deeds done in the name of
each.

You questioned the fact that the Crusades were in reponse to 500 years of
Muslim aggression. Now you know the truth.

You asked for support for the idea the the Crusades were in response to
500 years of Muslim aggression in the Middle East. You got it.

How about we stop relying on on-line, subjective sources with no
credibility whatsoever and start relying on books published by experts
in their fields that are promoted by established universities. Those I
read demonstrated that Christians indeed had a reason to feel threatened
by Islam and an obligation to protect the Holy Land. Did some of them
profit from the Crusades? Of course, just like some profited from the
wars of the 20th century. Is Christianity evil? Of course not, but it is
easily corrupted by evil people.

This whole line of "beheadings" thought is insane. Somehow being killed in
other ways is not a bad thing but beheadings is? Utterly mad.

    Nope. Not anti-Xian, anti-fundie. There's a big difference.

There is a not insignificant chunk of the evangelical right that would
most happily impose theocracy upon America and view it as being "oppressed"
when they don't get their way in this regard.

Although they aren't entirely harmless. The do still manage to do some
real damage, they aren't quite up to burnings yet.

That's what Xians do to heretics.

So what, exactly, have Christians done to persecute you?

Again, you speak in the abstract. I'm looking for some *real* facts.

It doesn't have to be me personally. It can be just my neighbors.

There's a nice German poem about the problem of turning a blind eye to
something just because you're not he one being directly abused (just yet).

     You've probably heard of it.

If you SERIOUSLY don't think that fundies don't want to run amok in
America you are really out of touch.

So ... nothing. More abstract claims about what you think "fundies" want.
For one thing "fundies" (fundamentalists) are not a coherent group. They
don't have any agenda that they all agree on. There have some broad
principals. Protestants, in general, split over just about everything.

You're fighting an imaginary force. Your crankdom blinds you to reality
of the situation. There's nothing at all like the wackos in ISIS
beheading Christians. You've overstepped logic in equating the two
groups.

Why are deaths by beheadings worse to you than other types of deaths? When
the Christian right pushes policies that lead to people dying they are just
as responsible. When the Christian right pushes illegal wars that kill
millions they are just as responsible.
