More than 350 languages spoken in U.S.; 54 percent of Los Angeles shuns English at home

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/nov/3/more-350-languages-spoken-us/

"More than 350 languages are spoken at home in the U.S., the Census Bureau reported Tuesday, and residents in the country's biggest cities are drifting away from speaking English at home.

A staggering 54 percent of residents in the Los Angeles metropolitan region speak a language other than English at home, as does 38 percent of the New York City area, 37 percent of Houston, 51 percent of Miami, 40 percent of San Francisco, and 36 percent of Washington, D.C."
======

How about sending all of these people home and out of the United States for good?

At least they've allowed us to build gambling casinos. We'll get our

Most of the harm has been pretty much forgotten. The casinos will last
till the money goes away. It allows us to build better schools and
homes for our own. But still dependent on the banks, unfortunately.

The conventional definition is that the indigenous population
when the Continent was discovered by the Europeans.

However, the more recent pushback against this is that these
peoples themselves had migrated across the Bering Sea, so they
supposedly don't "count".

However, the flaw in this logic, stems from how all Europeans
also were migrants from Africa, so extending this to its rational
conclusion would mean that everyone in the world would have to
back to the Rift Valley, leaving 98% of the world unpopulated
by humans.

In any case, an alternate interpretation of 'native' and one
which has greater validity is that whoever was already present
during the US Revolutionary War are whose descendants today
have the sole right to the land ... and the litmus test here
is actually quite straightforward: one requires a descendant
who has been confirmed as valid by the DAR (Daughters of the
American Revolution).

So unless you can prove your family has been in the USA for at
least seven (7) generations ... stop being a hypocrite & leave.

What a load of bull!

All of the Native American population that had migrated to the New World by walking over the Arctic or from Russia during winter when the ice was frozen over were were still living in the Stone Age. They did not even figure out the wheel, for crying out loud.

There is absolutely nothing remotely superior about these peoples. They were ALL vicious savages who were happily killing each other off with glee and even practicing human sacrifices to their gods, as well as cannibalism.

Yeah, if it wont for these Europeans, GrayCloud and ALL these savages, would still be living in the Stone Age.

If you want to whine on about the downfall of these people, THEN you should be dumping upon Spain who some 400 years ago pretty much committed genocide upon them for their gold.

Still, according to a rather recent PBS the Spaniards actually had some justification for butchering all the natives. Seems that at the end of 1500s the nice native Americans had cannibalized a Spanish settlement. They kept them locked up in huts, ate them one at a time, over a long period of time.

Of course, PBS only reported on the cannibalism. It was Moi who connected the dots.

While one could argue as to which group was the first to be hostile, I would NOT be surprised at all if these nice native Americans started the blood bath, first.

Je suis Moi, posted from Mint.

"All" of them walked over? They never had any offspring? ;)

Feel free to read Christopher Columbus's reports, etc.

The land bridge ("Beringia") is one of the better theories,
but is irrelevant to this conversation, because that event
was 11,000 = 16,500 years ago, and in human prehistory.

> ... were still living in the Stone Age.

The same claim is also true for Europe in 10,000+ BC, even
before you take into account differences in cultural norms.

> They did not even figure out the wheel, for crying out loud.

Sorry, they actually did figure out the wheel - - Jarrod Diamond
documents this - - it is just that because the Americas did not
have a large domesticated draft animal, there was no means to
apply the wheel technology as we are familiar with it in carts
and wagons ... it existed on childrens' toys.

> There is absolutely nothing remotely superior about these peoples.

Merely your personal opinion, and invariably biased. FYI, the
concept of the alphabet and IIRC also numbering systems were also
independently invented in the Americas too (again, Diamond's books
are well sourced on these sorts of topics).

> They were ALL vicious savages who were happily killing each
> other off with glee and even practicing human sacrifices to

And this differs from Europe (and Asia) ... exactly how? Care to
explain the bloodsheds of the 100 years war, the 30 year war, and
just how many Crusades were there again? And that's just naming
but a very very select few .. plus ignoring other things like
the socio-economic conditions which prompted multiple plagues,
indentured serfs .. and if memory serves, even cannibalism (Norse?).
Plus as we get closer to modern times, the industrialization of
slavery.

> Yeah, if it wont for these Europeans, GrayCloud and ALL these

Nope. Again, Diamond illustrates that it was a technology development
race, where the Europeans just happen to beat out their competitors,
possibly by as little as a few hundred years.

What, and ignore our High School history lessons on the "Manifest
Destiny" doctrine as perpetrated much more recently by the USA?

Doesn't sound particularly likely, but got a cite for that?

> Of course, PBS only reported on the cannibalism. It was

There's then a lot of dots absent, apparently, as what you're
really doing is revealing the Western cultural attitude towards
that practice: it existed at least as a (quasi-religious?)
practice with a much more social (than sustenance) basis within
several non-Western cultures for vastly longer than the USA has
existed ... but you're trying to rationalize that since the
West has been the aggressor and conqueror, it can only be because
of some supposed moral superiority instead of technological,
despite all of the "dots" which regularly display how it was the
West who was the chronic aggressor and treaty violator.

> While one could argue as to which group was the first to

I can recall being told that of all of the treaties that the
USA signed with Native Americans, all of the treaties which
were broken was done so by the USA, not the Tribes. Don't
know if this is true, but do feel free to go do the pertinent
research and report back to us. Ditto for reading Diamond's
books, particularly "Guns, Germs & Steel", to become much
better informed on these sorts of topics.

Richmond belongs to the Indians, go home Gohde.

IMHO the land belongs to the first primate species who came there barefoot first. For the US, this is the slanted eye race from Asia, i.e. Japs and Eskimo... Now tell me who should be the owner of the land on the Moon and Mars? The Russians were first on the moon but with a robot only, i.e. not a primate. Unless the moon landings were faked, the Anglo-Saxon Americans should own this planet...

Unfortunately, the land belongs to whoever can take and hold it by force.

Seems that at the end of 1500s the nice native Americans had cannibalized a Spanish settlement. They kept them locked up in huts, ate them one at a time, over a long period of time.

Web pages and videos on the Aztec culture being extremely blood thirsty are all over the place.

Human sacrifice in Aztec culture

Information on Aztec cannibalizm is likewise easy to find, even though I have yet been able to locate the specific PBS television program that I had watched.

Human sacrifice and cannibalism in the Aztec people

CANNIBALISM IN MIDDLE AMERICA
http://www.heretical.com/cannibal/mamerica.html

"As well-trained, methodical butchers of the battlefield and as citizens of the land of the Inquisition, Cortés and his men, who arrived in Mexico in 1519, were inured to displays of cruelty and bloodshed. It must have come as no great surprise to them that the Aztecs methodically sacrificed human beings ... Still, they were not quite prepared for what they found in Mexico.

Nowhere else in the world had there developed a state-sponsored religion whose art, architecture and ritual were so thoroughly dominated by violence, decay, death and disease. Nowhere else were walls and plazas of great temples and palaces reserved for such a concentrated display of jaws, fangs, claws, talons, bones and gaping death heads. The eyewitness accounts of Cortés and his fellow conquistador, Bernal Díaz, leave no doubt concerning the ecclesiastical meaning of the dreadful visages portrayed in stone. The Aztec gods ate people. They ate human hearts and they drank human blood. And the declared function of the Aztec priesthood was to provide fresh human hearts and human blood in order to prevent the remorseless deities from becoming angry and crippling, sickening, withering, and burning the whole world."

In short, the Native Americans, as represented by the Aztec, being butchered and exterminated by the Spaniards was a good thing. Spain has nothing to feel guilty about.

GrayCloud is full of it!
