Assuming your claims about France are correct, can you explain how 
making it legal for the killers to carry guns would make these three 
women less dead?

Only criminals and assassins should have guns.  As with any other device
that is either too scary or too complex to be operated safely by gay men
and soccer moms, guns should be completely banned in polite society.

A tiny push of your arm to send someone tumbling into the path of a 
subway train will also convert you into a criminal.

As will a flick of your hand on the steering wheel to run over the 
pedestrians on the sidewalk.
