So you are the arbiter of what everyone needs/wants in their editor

You can edit binary files with vim. It is not uncommon for binary
files to be huge.

Yes, the one I made above. And then you changed topics away from technology
to... me... or, really, your fantasies of me.

First you note how you are uncomfortable with your own homosexual tendencies
then you start publicly fantasizing about me.

What point was that? The one where you made a proclamation about what
the general user needs in an editor, and then tried to hide behind the
"non sequitur" smoke screen when called out on it?

The one where you asked a question, I answered, and then you responded with
fantasizes about me.

Now can you actually get back to the topic of technology and PLEASE stop
talking about your fantasizes of me.

And you share MORE of your fantasizes about me. Please: try to talk about
technology. Here, to help you:

You asked why Notepad, a low end consumer focused text tool, would not
handle huge files that most people would never encounter or use... and those
that would, as even you note, would be more likely to use an actual
feature-rich text editor such as vim.

I noted that the developers likely would not take much time to make sure it
can handle such files because the use-cases of such would be rare: the
general user would have no need or desire for such a tool, not that it doing
so would harm them in any way and I certainly would not be against it
working with such files.

Got it... or are you too busy dealing with your discomfort of your
homosexual feelings and your fantasizes about me?

I guess since you are drowning in froth you failed to notice that
notepad actually *does* handle files of that size. Just not very
efficiently.

> I noted that the developers likely would not take much time to make sure it

What makes you think that any effort is required to "make sure it can
handle such files"? In less than 30 lines of code, including error
checking, you can have an app that can open (instantly) a file of
arbitrary size and write to an arbitrary position in that file without
even allocating memory.

You wouldn't be against it. That's the important thing, right?
Snit's approval? LOL.

After getting caught posting as Joel Crump in the Windows 10 group,
snit's been hitting the glue big time.
It's all the same routine with him.
It's called projection and he uses it to diffuse his own
insecurities.
Statements like "you are fantasizing about me" or "your fear of
homosexuality" are techniques he uses for projecting his own
insecurities on others in order to shut down the conversation that
where he is currently losing the argument.

He must have gone sky high on glue last night. At least based upon
his massive meltdown.

Everyone is Snit.
Snit tells unquotable lies.

Come up with new material, Peter!

Turn of word wrap and it opens then much faster. I played the other day and
for a file at 2.02 GB it just says it cannot handle it.

But with these larger files people generally open them because they want to
do text processing... something Notepad does poorly. For file such as that
people are much more likely to use vim.

I noted this and you just continued to fantasize about ME and shared your
fantasizes. I find that creepy and weird. Please focus on technology.

So show such a program: one that has the features of Notepad but can do as
you say.

You are the one fantasizing about ME... and doing so right after you

tendencies.

It only needs the features I described in order to be "such a program."

*You* are moving the goal posts. I described a program. You challenged
me to show "such a program" but with the added caveat that it have the
"features of Notepad." This is another sign of your ignorance, thinking
that any of the "features of Notepad," other than its ability to open and
write to files, is relevant to its ability to open and write to *huge*
files, and you show no understanding of this "effort" that you claimed
the "developers" decided was not warranted in a program designed for
"general users."

Ah, I forced you to change the topic to what NOTEPAD should be able to do to
what you think some completely different program could do.

Not buying it.

Evil that I wanted you to stay on topic. Man, how can you handle it?

So I talked about Notepad and you noted a program which was not like Notepad
could do what Notepad cannot, or at least cannot do well.

Then you went off topic and whined about me.

LOL!

A completely different program that does easily what notepad does poorly,
namely opening and editing huge files.

Because you have no clue how programs work with files.

The topic is opening and editing huge files. Try to keep up.

Notepad opens and edits files. This one opens and edits files.

So you don't understand how programs work with files. Got it.

Yes, there are programs that are not Notepad that have different pros and
cons. But why are you moving the goal post to this completely off topic idea
which is not in contention?

Wait: you answer this below!

Oh, you moved goal posts to help with you making up stories about ME. You
wanted to talk about ME again and not technology.

Your obsession with me is not flattering.
