If you disagree that is fine... but TRY to show some thought and not
just whining. Really, it makes conversations flow better. For the
record, here was my actual reply:

Some of the things we have been discussing and have in the past. sc is
made more for scripting and "heftier" number crunching, and to run
"light" on a system. Numbers is made more for ease of use, flexibility
in layout, integration with other media (images and text boxes, as
examples), and for simple formatting.

As examples of the types of things Numbers is designed for, you can look
at the templates. Was going to list them here but easier to just show a
video. :)

Or the real world example I used with you before:

Whining, or not, that's definitely your MO.

To make a point and back it with evidence merely to have you snip it and
share your fantasies about me... sure, except it is not only our MOs, it
is what you and I did here.

I focus on tech. You focus on me. Not much either of us can do to change
the other.

Both F. Russell and Oppenheimer had their shortfalls and their awkward moments. One played it as supernatural and didn't do anything too shocking that could not be backed with peer reviews. F. Russell's computer has more hard drives than David Empson's. F. Russell wins. David Empson loses. Turns out David Empson's persistent referencing of F. Russell met his own definition of trolling, so he accused F. Russell of making that up. You never take responsibility for your own actions. Quotes that are easily found in a search. David Empson can only think from the viewpoint of a sociopath.

Having to tolerate the use of Bash would just confuse the general user. The teller of untruths AKA God does it every time. Then the flood begins. Because the wimp just has to run to other groups to get the attention he's not getting here. Who *doesn't* know that this kind of codswallop is God's approach, not the modus operandi of RonB? It's all just nonsense... the flooding, the sock puppets, the writing of nonsense, the anger... the panties in a twist and eagerness to show how ashamed he is over being kicked from the playground for pissing in it again... all of it ;)

Link to the post you snipped the tech content away and replied with your

<https://groups.google.com/forum/#!original/comp.os.linux.advocacy/2FxzZ-3FTys/RKSxoKmiCQAJ>
OR <http://bit.ly/2KqMLE0>

And now this has gone from you snipping tech info to babble about me, to
me calling you out on it, to you pushing an absurd meta-debate where you
deny it.

Why the hell do you do this shit?

And I guess it is just as fair to ask: why the hell do I give you
attention over such nonsense trolling?

Why not just focus on tech. Here, to get back to the answer I gave to
Owl's question:

-----

Some of the things we have been discussing and have in the past. sc is
made more for scripting and "heftier" number crunching, and to run
"light" on a system. Numbers is made more for ease of use, flexibility
in layout, integration with other media (images and text boxes, as
examples), and for simple formatting.

As examples of the types of things Numbers is designed for, you can look
at the templates. Was going to list them here but easier to just show a
video. :)

Or the real world example I used with you before:

Do you have any comment about the tech side of the conversation or are
you just going to keep obsessing over me?

You do realize that the massive floods ending up in multiple groups started out in COLA, right?

It was Peter the Klöwn who flooded Melzzzzz's site millions of times and denied it. What do you get out of lying, Peter the Klöwn? Just look at your videos and look at mine, there is nothing for us to learn from a fool like Peter the Klöwn. But whatever, let him keep making an imbecile of himself. He can make another sock to pat himself on the back.

Peter the Klöwn asked to be rated according to objective trolling criteria, which Melzzzzz indulged.

Richard Stallman is a false advocate's biggest fear. His "technical support talents" diverted his attention from an extension he needs that does exist on Red Hat. The only thing malfunctioning here is Peter the Klöwn.

I am an obsessed advocate of Red Hat, because that's where all the compelling breakthroughs are happening.

'Cuz you like to play 'victim', obviously.

> Why not just focus on tech.

LOL! Here's the reality on that...

That screencast proves I focus on doing tech, unlike you, who
talks about it here and there to facilitate trolling. Owl focuses
on tech by doing, not just talking. Your use of tech is limited,
for the most part, to the use of things that are pre-configured
for you. This is why you just don't 'get' the use of the CLI in
the hands of a person capable of using it well. You do have
AppleScript to get you past some of that limitation so why don't
you put it to use? The reason is it would take "actual" learning.

Owl said that Numbers can't interact with external sheets, which
seems to be true. But isn't there a way around that limitation?
Couldn't you grab data from a GoogleSheet and bring it into
Numbers using AppleScript? Seems like a worthwhile thing that
might in come in handy to know. To me (and to owl) focusing
on tech also means doing it... which can be limited to the use of
pre-configured solutions but they don't provide much of a
learning experience (the other reason you claim to come here).

OK, so we agree you think tech discussions are "irrelevant crap".

To automate flooding of COLA (and other groups). But above you showed
you consider discussions of tech to be "irrelevant crap". Then you jump
into trying to judge the value of different forms of focusing on tech,
placing scripting / programming above other forms. Whatever. And you go
back to your bragging about how you do things I do not.

Guess what: my world does not revolve around you. You and I make
different use of tech. Owl and I make different use of tech. I have NO
issue with this.

If that interests you then look into it. I think that would be awesome
and MUCH better than your scripted trolling of COLA and other groups.

Ah, you show no real understanding of what I do even as you obsess over

You, doing tech instead of just talking about it here and there to
facilitate your trolling, has nothing to do with me; the only
connection to me is that I'm the one pointing it out. But you
can't *not* focus on me... of course, then you project that

Pull up a background investigation on kushal bhattacharya and you will discover that he was in a correctional facility for a long time. The probes fail to go into that amount of specificity and court reports from his jurisdiction are private unless subpoenaed. Already moved on from that. Take it as you want!

These morons get their kicks out of eliciting emotional responses to their crap, which is the very definition of a troll. kushal bhattacharya was once again a hypocrite by having the pretense to not engage Steven Petruzzellis by means of emphatically broadcasting 'goodbye forever!' and then assailing him again using another poster. How is failing synaptic connections tied to the intelligence of a turnip in any way going to lead to enlightened usenet conversation?

What do you get out of lying, kushal bhattacharya?

This almost makes me want to get ahold of an Android device ;)
In an environment like that, is it possible to get direct access
to something like a 'Google Sheet'?

I've never tried that, but this looks promising:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vISRn5qFrkM

Also, if you can get that sheet downloaded as csv, then you can import
it directly into sc.

I've never done it but GS does have .csv export

Something else to consider: If you watch that guy's video, you'll that
he has a python script that interacts with a google sheet. Since sc is
able to use external commands, you could possibly have sc cell values sent
to a google sheet by hitting a hotkey inside of sc. If you didn't want
to bother with that, at the very least you should be able to interact
with a google sheet from a command line script, and use vim as your
script editor.

Were I to do this I probably would mess around with external commands.
Excel is even opening itself up to the bane that is JavaScript (a new thing
for Feeb to have a fit over):

<https://www.wired.com/story/microsoft-excel-javascript/>

I just now watched that video, I didn't know Google Drive had an API!
This is pretty handy and it solves a problem with some data by a client
of mine who is afraid of computers but has managed to work their way
up to using Google Docs (a little, enough for this to be useful to me).

Damnit, now I have to go back and look at python again. If DFS
were here, he could be a big help in quickly translating some bash
to python to get SC working with gspread.

Where the hell is that guy?

There's definitely some value in learning a language like Python and,
given your knowledge, I doubt you'd have much trouble with doing
this. If you're more accustomed to C syntax I think you can also do
it with JavaScript.
