I'm headed to the gym right now. For the record, taking time possibly getting informed isn't wasted time. Believing you know everything and taking it on yourself to persuade people that it is true? *That* is a waste ;) No one here has ever read my code, much less found a bug; still, in my auxiliary brain, I'm thinking, "At least I am not Sandman", but nobody knows that. You do realize that the massive floods ending up in multiple groups started out in COLA, right? You're like a pregnant woman hiding behind a very skinny tree. We all see you hiding there and just laugh at you. And you're so stupid you keep repeating it. Once Owl grokked how successful Sandman is at playing 'injured party' he understands this is not nearly as unbelievable as it appeared. What did you assume from the lying imbecile? That Sandman lummox has nothing to blow but time. He has nothing else, especially not a job. I'm well aware the posts I link to from this group is complete layperson level. That said, it accomplished what I want. -- Live on Kickstarter! http://www.5z8.info/hack-outlook_c6c9in_michaelangelo-virus Jonas Eklundh Communication

Here is the ELEGANT solution using trigonometry:
#! /bin/bash
image=$1
angle=$2
sign=${angle:0:1}
if [ "$sign" = "-" ]
then
rot=`echo "-1*$angle" | bc`
else
rot=$angle
fi
X=`exiftool -s -s -s -ImageWidth $image`
Y=`exiftool -s -s -s -ImageHeight $image`
xw=`echo "c($rot*4*a(1)/180)*$X" | bc -l`
xw=`echo "($xw+0.5)/1" | bc`
yw=`echo "s($rot*4*a(1)/180)*$X" | bc -l`
yw=`echo "($yw+0.5)/1" | bc`
xh=`echo "c($rot*4*a(1)/180)*$Y" | bc -l`
xh=`echo "($xh+0.5)/1" | bc`
yh=`echo "s($rot*4*a(1)/180)*$Y" | bc -l`
yh=`echo "($yh+0.5)/1" | bc`
xwyh=`echo "$xw-$yh" | bc`
xhyw=`echo "$xh-$yw" | bc`
pnmrotate $angle $image | \
pamcut -left $yh -top $yw -width $xwyh -height $xhyw | pamx
I need to replace exiftool with exiv2.
Note that this is intended to be part of an actual workflow
but for this purpose it only rotates and crops.

Did it ever occur that not all "real men" are programmers? As a matter of
fact, your average construction worker would consider a programmer kind of
"girlie."

I would say it's more elegant to abstract some of that to functions
and definitions, such as below (maybe even more).
----------
pi=$(echo "4*a(1)"|bc -l)
# or pi=3.14159 or something. No real need to calculate it.
radianangle=$(echo "${rot}*${pi}/180"|bc -l)
cosine () {
echo "c(${1})"|bc -l
}
sine () {
echo "s(${1})"|bc -l
}
round () {
echo "(${1}+0.5)/1"|bc
}
X=$(whatever method...)
Y=$(whatever method...)
xw=$(round $(echo "$(cosine ${radianangle})*${X}"|bc -l))
yw=$(round $(echo "$(sine ${radianangle})*${X}"|bc -l))
xh=$(round $(echo "$(cosine ${radianangle})*${Y}"|bc -l))
yh=$(round $(echo "$(sine ${radianangle})*${Y}"|bc -l))
----------
I don't have pamx in my version of netpbm.

Useles use of echo/bc above. Make that:
xw=$(round $(cosine ${radianangle})*${X})
yw=$(round $(sine ${radianangle})*${X})
xh=$(round $(cosine ${radianangle})*${Y})
yh=$(round $(sine ${radianangle})*${Y})

Steve "Steven Petruzzellis" Carroll's obsession with Klaus Schadenfreude started in 2004 when Carroll got mad about his then girlfriend obsessing over Klaus Schadenfreude (heavily documented here: <http://tinyurl.com/proof-about-ebot>). Klaus Schadenfreude continued to respond to Steve for about 5 years, when Steve flipped out in 2009 and started contacting Klaus Schadenfreude's employer with the stated goal to have him fired (he spoke of doing so even if he had to twist arms):
<http://goo.gl/OHNryA>
<http://goo.gl/MZ6yCD>
<http://goo.gl/WaKKGq>
There were more, but Carroll has had them deleted from the Google archive. I have not spent the time to find them elsewhere (and likely will not).
With that Klaus Schadenfreude stopped responding directly to Steve except for *one* chance he gave him in 2011 when Steve was accusing *Klaus Schadenfreude* of running: <http://goo.gl/racU64>.
Carroll, as predicted, ran (he always does when faced with facts):
<http://goo.gl/qHs5Xh>
Steven Petruzzellis knows he has no backing for any of his nonsense and has become, if anything, more and more obsessive since Klaus Schadenfreude stopped responding to him.
Steve "Steven Petruzzellis" Carroll is truly a very, very sick man.

That's much clearer as to what's going on.
The problem with bash is that, AFAIK, it does
not do math easily.

Bash doesn't have much in the way of math capabilities. But it's great
at tying things together through stdin/stdout, and their are many ways
to do the math.

Why does Onion 'The Moron' Knight focus on Steven Petruzzellis's self-esteem issues so much? An unceasing, fierce, posting itch, while suffering from an empty mind - fundamentally slippery Onion 'The Moron' Knight lawyers, and satisfactorily-waxed fish, hung from the ceiling for his own immoral purposes. Why do you keep rephrasing Steven Petruzzellis? Once Steven Petruzzellis understood how effective Onion 'The Moron' Knight is at portraying himself as the 'fall guy' he understands this is not nearly as outta whack as it sounded. What is Onion 'The Moron' Knight's method for the flooding insanity? JavaScript? That is the only tool he knows, at least that I have seen. He must be using it to produce these goofy "obsession" posts. Here is my theory, Onion 'The Moron' Knight took some code that he reverse engineered and declared it his... he's feeding it Google Groups data, grabbing "special" paragraphs, then scrambling those using Pseudo-Context Free Grammar and then he actively posts them because his lack of work enables him to do that practically nonstop. I thought showing him a taste of his own medicine might help the situation. I shan't ask Steven Petruzzellis how any part of Snit's anatomy tastes no matter how many times Steven Petruzzellis smooches it. It's trivial to cherrypick by focusing on hardly any exceptions clashing from what is more general.
