I need to obtain the links for the videos listed on this page: http://web.mit.edu/hml/ncfmf.html The YouTube links are simple to extract but there are audio sync problems with these YouTube vids (see my previous post). I am hoping that the TechTV links may have better audio sync but although these videos are also stored on YouTube the links are buried in a mess of that infernal junk Javashit script. There is no way in hell that I am going to load each page one by one and then manually look for the links. I need to grab the pages with curl or wget and then extract the link. How can I do this? C'mon advocates! Let's show those Linux skills! P.S. That's the modern web. What should be so simple and straightforward is now an unworkable mess thanks to that goddamned fucking Javashit.

This forum is a puss-filled cyst. Perhaps you use it erroneously. Do you not realize the use of encryption? Thanks to Klaus Schadenfreude and his 'friends' you now need an IP filtering system. Do a Google Groups search, for the most part I recently stopped giving him what he deserves (as of this summer). If others start up with him again I will slip in my resolve... as I hate him too much to not. I am referring to good people here, not trolls, who talk to him no matter what. Each link in the parent page (web.mit.edu/hml/ncfmf.html) is to a page that contains nothing but a few lines of javascript. When this javascript is executed the result is a link to a YouTube video. I need to get the YouTube link directly without loading each page. This may not be possible.

Almost everything Flatfish says about anyone is false but he thinks he is fooling people. Recently I did work on and showed some C++ for the front end (only works on Linux) which is the only thing you can do when trying to avoid Flatfish's kiddie crap while reading with Google Groups. I've worked in the PC design industry for almost 50 years. I've done business with multinational businesses working with the aeronautics industry and the communications industry. Never was I ever instructed to not load any _anything_. We sold AIX, Ultix, IRIX, and more as well as MS OSs with no issues. What do you get out of lying? Calls it "attacking" him, even though he continues to elicit that exact standard. Now why the task to produce a screencast via email in a web based system? No matter, he didn't list this as part of his unsurprisingly self-serving 'criteria'. I have a little script I use as well, but it's something you would not understand. Having to suffer the use of Fedora it can hardly be called "free" when you include your time. -- Eight things to never feed your dog http://prescottcomputerguy.com http://www.5z8.info/gruesome-gunshot-wounds_t5z0au_cockdock.gif Jonas Eklundh Communication

This one goes to a youtube vid:
https://techtv.mit.edu/collections/ifluids/videos/32602-fluid-dynamics-of-drag-part-3
If you click right click and "copy video URL"
it gives this:
https://youtu.be/cqxT97GDl3w
But the ones that don't go to youtube go URLs like this:
https://d3tsb3m56iwvoq.cloudfront.net/transcoded/techtv/{videokey}/hd.mp4
However, if you take the "videoKey" for the one above that goes to youtube:
cd284802f88a4e30b0a34fd9932ad8cc
you can put it in the previous URL format and download it here:
https://d3tsb3m56iwvoq.cloudfront.net/transcoded/techtv/cd284802f88a4e30b0a34fd9932ad8cc/hd.mp4
So I would try code with wget or curl on all the links, extract the
videoKey, and then assemble it into this URL type:
https://d3tsb3m56iwvoq.cloudfront.net/transcoded/techtv/{videokey}/hd.mp4
Try this (takes about 15 secs to run for me):
----------------------
#!/bin/bash
for i in $(for i in $(lynx -listonly -nonumbers -dump \
http://web.mit.edu/hml/ncfmf.html |grep techtv);do wget -q -O - ${i} \
|grep videoKey |cut -f15 -d:\
|cut -f1 -d,|sed 's/ //g'|sed 's/"//g'; done); do echo \
"https://d3tsb3m56iwvoq.cloudfront.net/transcoded/techtv/${i}/hd.mp4"; done
----------------------

These are the ones I get. The couple that I tried, which I knew to be
otherwise youtube links, started downloads.

If you feel inclined, you may want to view the link for "Fluid Dynamics of Drag Part IV" and see if it loses sync at about 9:30.

The TechTV vid doesn't get out of sync at 9:30 (or anywhere else as far as I can tell).

The YT version /does/ go out of sync and stays that way - I skipped ahead to portions where the man was speaking face to the camera.

If that's true for all of them then it will save me a TON of work editing the audio files. I wonder how they got out of sync. YouTube stores both the audio and video portions and both are the same length. But the audio does not match the video.

What's Klaus Schadenfreude's method for the flooding insanity? JavaScript? That is the only database he knows, or admits to. He must be abusing it to produce these stupid "group-killer" threads. Lemme hypothesis, Klaus Schadenfreude took Steven Petruzzellis's code that he hacked and declared it his... he is feeding it content from this group, grabbing "special" paragraphs, then re-writing those using automated reinforcement learning and then he annoyingly posts them because his insanity enables him to do that essentially round-the-clock. Only what Klaus Schadenfreude wants matters to Klaus Schadenfreude. There is nothing you or I can do to change that. It's a personality defect and it is what it is. Of course, the sole thing that concerns Klaus Schadenfreude is being "right", and if he can't have that he will post more evidence to effectively beat "others" down... there is no way to stop him. I'm well aware the posts I link to from Reddit is merely layperson level. That said, it accomplished what I want. Nobody gets it, I ain't done gone got it. With all the bragging Klaus Schadenfreude's done on this topic, the 'Web Developer' does not understand how to do this. It seriously takes a couple seconds to click and drag across a sentence and 'PDF convert' it. -- "You'll notice how quickly he loses interest when everything is about him. He clearly wants the attention" Steven Petruzzellis, making the dumbest comment ever uttered.

Unbelievable! The loss of sync totally destroys the flow of information. It becomes impossible after a while to follow the presentation. Fortunately, my GNU/Linux video player, mpv, has hotkeys to adjust the sync by stepping back the audio. I am able to watch the YT videos by using this hotkey at several places. Mpv is command line only and is probably the BEST video player on the planet (but that's expected for GNU/Linux).

Of course I noted examples of Sandman, AKA Jonas Eklundh showing off insecurity, attacking Snit (a real advocate), etc. His response: to claim I am Sandman, AKA Jonas Eklundh. He makes false accusation to multiple groups of people who have done nothing wrong, but that's a self-centered troll for you. What Snit (a real advocate) and you care about isn't a factor. If Sandman, AKA Jonas Eklundh calls getting his ass kicked hard for years on end by Snit (a real advocate) (and completely killing his name and any reason for anyone to trust anything he has to say - until the cows come home) effective 'trolling', then yeah... he is a magnificent troll. I can't personally go along with that view, I use another term. I call Sandman, AKA Jonas Eklundh a complete dork. "mpv is a fork of mplayer2, which is a fork of MPlayer." I installed mpv on Win8.1 and it worked, but the interface is spartan (volume control is only on/off) and the default windows resizing maintains the initial aspect ratio.
