Never owned one (I have 2 other Gibsons, though). Ironically, I own
the kind of Strat that later became a RB signature model, but mine
is actually from that early 70's era; it features that horrendous three
bolt system, which I fixed by putting a thin layer of coarse material
in between the neck and the body so it prevented that issue. I also
stupidly drilled a hole in the front to facilitate Roland's GK-2A PU.
I even did that *after* I bought a guitar for that purpose (Midi), I
don't know WTF I was thinking <smack heads>.

The SG is a wonderful guitar, but it's very neck-heavy.

Was yours a 2 octave, ebony fingerboard one that used a lighter body
weight wood (I've heard certain kinds of walnut models were heavier)?

Nah, 22 frets rosewood + mahogany iirc. Brown finish like the one
in the Scrotum image. To get an idea of the weight distribution,
think of a Les Paul Standard with 2/3 the body planed of. Body is
really thin and the neck is thick.

HA! How did Steve 'The Moron' Petruzzellis get _so_ vainglorious he concludes everything is about himself?? Slimer owns Steve 'The Moron' Petruzzellis in every way possible. It was Steve 'The Moron' Petruzzellis who got busted using lots of puppets for years, and these are 'people' who come literally out of the blue directly into threads where he was being ripped apart... nonstop for over a decade. Proof Sandman accuses everyone of being Snit http://sandman.net/files/snit_circus.png.

Sandman has been tracking him to understand the depths of Klaus Schadenfreude's narcissism. Frankly I do not really give a shit. Fool! Klaus Schadenfreude has yet to show how any Linux program does anything above the minimum on Linux. Just look at your attempts and look at mine, there is nothing for anyone to learn from a mindless moron like Klaus Schadenfreude. But whatever, let him keep making a fool of himself.

LOL! Exactly.

The reason jazz people sit in open windows and play saxophones (on a
rainy night with neon signs nearby) is so they can easily tumble out
when they succumb to the depressing music.

Exactly nothing.

Why do so many of the best Rock players cite Jazz players as influences?
Yeah... that's a tough one, isn't it?

> The reason jazz people sit in open windows and play saxophones (on a
> rainy night with neon signs nearby) is so they can easily tumble out

You're not listening, I'm *not* talking about Jazz "music", I'm talking
about utilizing sounds based on harmonic concepts Jazz pioneered.
You 2 keep yammering on about "jazz" but you're missing this point.
It's about tension and release in music and how Jazz expanded it.

Some tension/release examples over a funky vamp:

1 - <https://youtu.be/X_y-EIJ70JQ?t=60>
2 - <https://youtu.be/X_y-EIJ70JQ?t=209>
3 - <https://youtu.be/X_y-EIJ70JQ?t=283>
4 - <https://youtu.be/X_y-EIJ70JQ?t=357>
5 - <https://youtu.be/X_y-EIJ70JQ?t=473>

At one point he states:
"If any of these licks do not speak to you, you didn't like them,
then don't spend time on them"

I would disagree with that, the stuff he's playing here is a solid
basis for ear training, for that reason alone I would spend time
on them. Do those outside sounds make this "jazz"? Should
Rock players avoid all of those ideas in your opinion simply
because they come from the Jazz world? Are none of those
sounds a little more 'interesting' to your ears than a lot of stuff
you hear on YT, that just regurgitates the same old sh*t, trying
to play it ever faster?

Exactly what owl said. How can you actually enjoy jazz 'music' once
you've heard it?

Drugs.

Don't get so butthurt; at least jazz is a little better than (c)rap
music. So there's that...

I'll take that as a yes... and we know it requires 'languages'.
We know music is an art. Do you recognize music as a "language"?

Yes. It's the language of *emotion*. Which is why I just don't get jazz.
With other genres, you make an instant emotional connection with the
music. With jazz, apparently you need a Rosetta Stone and a magnifying
glass to find it. Here is just a random sample of assorted tunes that
burst with emotion. Note that there is no need to get out a slide rule
to explain it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqDVObM1kxc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF9Q3hnAr88
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lydBPm2KRaU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Up06CryWQpE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GUrcEx7Guw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFnkCIwGwiA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFnkCIwGwiA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJefPaBsSug
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKQtWMETbfo

And on and on and on for literally thousands of other examples.
Where is the one jazz song that even comes close to expressing
*any* emotion? I could give a rat's ass how complex a song
is or how hard it is to play. I want a song to grab me by
the gut and squeeze hard.

The sax and piano in that tune are awesome.
