The question was: Why can't I select "no operating system" with Dell's computers? It has nothing to do with the "freetard Linux community" or "Linux support through their entire product line". Example: X has had a computer with Windows XP. At some point he bought Windows 7. Now X throws away his old PC and wants to get a new one from Dell. He probably wants one with a blank hard drive because he already has Windows 7. Why would he want to buy an additional Windows 7 license with his computer? Is he part of the "freetard Linux community"? Does he demand "linux support through their entire product line"?

For bonus points, take 5 minutes and try that motherboard with a Linux LiveCD, verify compatibility, and indicate such. You know, good old-fashioned customer service. But Dumfsck would way "they don't owe you potential customers a damn thing." Yeah, *that's* the path to success in business. Sheesh. Of course, if you're getting paid-off to shun a small group of customers, it changes everything.

What's Microsoft pushing when it sues Barnes and Noble for not selling Windows on their tablets, or threatens Taiwanese smartphone makers for not selling Phone 7 on their smartphones, or poaches customers from an education deal, signed, sealed and delivered to Mandriva, or sabotages the OLPC charity because it uses GNU/Linux instead of Windows? And there's hundreds more examples where that came from, possibly even thousands. But no Microsoft doesn't "push" anything. It's just a bunch of angels. So the public IP address they connect from would be the same regardless of what machine on their LAN they are using, and would be counted as one computer only. > A client site (aimed at the computer illiterate) gets a much lower > ratio of linux hits, still over 1% though. Many - but not all - GNU/Linux users also set a different user agent and/or operating system identification in their browsers because there still are many websites out there that nag if the connecting operating system does not identify as some version of Windows or the connecting browser isn't Internet ExploDer. ;-) -- *Aragorn* (registered GNU/Linux user #223157)
