People like living in the city, especially if they don't need a car; no one wants to be banished to the woods.

Scrivener's update system failed over and over again. Why the task to produce a screencast via usenet in a server system? No matter, Klaus Schadenfreude didn't initially list this as part of his never ending expansion of 'criteria'. Frankly I do not really care. Are you being like Klaus Schadenfreude on purpose? Time to blame Klaus Schadenfreude! I've worked in the retail field for nearly 40 years. I've worked with multibillion corporations working with the pharmaceutical industry and green technology industries. Never was I at any point told not to offer any OS we wanted. We sold OS/2, Ultix, Blackberry, and so on in addition to Microsoft OSs very successfully. -- Curious how these posts are made? Email: fretwizzer@gmail.com

The same has also enabled college students for the past 40 years. And for the context of children who may be consuming public schools as a municipal service, the incremental addition of persons who aren't attending the public school doesn't really matter too much. > >> Regardless, their kids are going to school and straining > >> those resources. > > > > They may go to school, but that's not a guaranteed outcome > > that resources will be strained. > > > > https://laist.com/2019/01/16/the_class_size_conundrum_at_the_heart_of_lausds_teachers_strike.php As I said, LA's been messed up for years. I'm up on some of it, as an old friend had lived out there for a couple of decades; they just moved out towards Ontario in 2018. The fun part to tease out is if the actual plan has been to hide funds so that on paper it says that there's chronic underfunding and insolvency so as to enable a private for-profit system to "rescue" the damsel district in so-called distress. -hh

On what planet? And why did you pivot so quickly from "demand of city services" to vacancy, leaving the 'ramification' topic *you* just brought up in the dust? Did your friend happen to mention that it's one of the largest concentrations of illegals in the country? Lemme guess, you have stats to prove that there is not only zero impact but the problem could be cut in half by doubling the number of illegals? ;) > The fun part to tease out is if the actual plan has been to hide > funds so that on paper it says that there's chronic underfunding > and insolvency so as to enable a private for-profit system to > "rescue" the damsel district in so-called distress. You're aware that this is not quite the Repub vs. Dem issue as it's often been sold, right, IOW, you know it's Dem against Dem? What it all boils down to is the stronghold of 'Dem Utopia' has "been messed up for years"... "LA has had fiscal management problems for over a decade"... but we have no real problems. You keep telling us that...

Yes, and this is basic Set Theory: for any property, the subset of occupants who are also students cannot exceed the total number of occupants. And when a property is vacant, the total number of occupants is zero. Therefore, the number of candidate students cannot exceed zero. > >> > The ramifications of that empty unit is that for that point in > >> > time, there's lower demand of city services. > >> > > >> > >> How does some rental property being vacant translate to lower demand of > >> city services? That really depends on the particulars of the city/town, etc. Are there any actual research studies which substantiate your assertion that college towns are significantly more expensive due to only this one variable than non-college towns for housing costs? > Should every city now suffer the same burden of rents driven to the > stratosphere in order to house illegals? Well, if society has been accepting this as your claimed increase in housing costs when the tenants are college students, what's really the difference? Is it that college students have lower demand on municipal services, despite them obviously invoking more police responses from loud Frat Parties? > > And for the context of children who may be consuming public schools > > as a municipal service, the incremental addition of persons who > > aren't attending the public school doesn't really matter too much. > > Other than the displacement of families who otherwise might afford > a lower rent commensurate with a lower demand. But since a US Citizen family is also going to have children and the landlord has essentially the same property tax payments to make to the municipality, when you follow the money, just how does it make any difference if the schoolchild has a brown illegal parent versus a white legal parent? And when its an apartment of young men workers, the same is true for the apartment of college kids: neither has any kids in it attending school, so from the perspective of the municipality setting property tax policy, just how does the "who" really make any difference? If local zoning says that 5+ non-related individuals may not co-inhabit, equal application under the law would say that the policy should be applied impartially with no biases. -hh

However, given that it's Rudy Canoza I would drop that doubt and go straight to 'bullshit' because that's most of what Rudy Canoza does. No need to find evidence before accusing Rudy Canoza of lying. All that matters is that Rudy Canoza gets to broadcast his prank call and then hang up and giggle about it. The fact that Just Wondering is an unwitting victim on the other end of the phone is what's funny. I shan't ask Rudy Canoza how any part of Just Wondering's body tastes no matter how often Rudy Canoza kisses it. It was Rudy Canoza who flooded Just Wondering's site millions of times and refused to admit it. He makes false accusation to an entire group of people who have nothing to do with anything, but that's a narcissist for you. What you and I care about isn't a factor. ChromeOS is based on Linux. The set is larger than the set of "occupants." The homeless were mentioned
earlier, and a family with students which has been displaced by a gaggle
of carpenters leads to no decrease in the number of students.

Once again, you miss the forest. Vacancy can mean squatters or not,
and a displacement of previous tenants who can no longer afford the
rising rent the owner now demands does not necessarily translate into
a lower demand for services. There may be squatters, or not, but the
demand for city services will not have decreased by forcing a family
onto the streets; and as mentioned, squatters might increase the demand.

"one of" vs. "only." Student housing demand is one. Prestige might
be another. Going to home games still another.

Because in the case of college students the town will have grown gradually
over time with the school population, which would have been expected and
planned for, but might not be able to handle a relatively sudden influx
of illegals caused by the whims of a city council that has decided to
embrace a sanctuary-city policy.

Because the illegal students were not planned for, and overcrowding is
the result.

Because, as described above, the college student population would have
been anticipated, and would not lead to families being tossed onto the
streets.

If you have any kind of intelligence, and/or resources, it's not hard to move people and products across the U.S. border. A retired ISIS fighter can fly to Ecuador, make his way up to the U.S. border, with help, and cross it. Hugh Huntzinger asks for numbers, statistics; meanwhile, Democrats are in the Caribbean, asking for margaritas.

I'm assuming you meant 'are not' complicit... but where did I argue they're never complicit? In any event, the article in the NY Times, which I believe may have been who brought the info to light, states of Trump (or his organization): "There is no evidence that Mr. Trump or Trump Organization executives knew of their immigration status." Doesn't mean he was unaware but being 'suspected' of knowing isn't the same as knowing. Furthermore... "Because of the βoutstandingβ support she has provided during Mr. Trumpβs visits, Ms. Morales in July was given a certificate from the White House Communications Agency inscribed with her name." I doubt anyone, even Trump, would be so stupid as to knowingly give such a high profile award to an illegal alien. At the same time, this underscores how 'normalized' it has become... to me, that's one of the largest issues surrounding illegal immigration. It enables you to feel comfortable claiming that the currently lessened flow somehow means it doesn't need to be dealt with now, at least, not by constructing a wall. Being that you've made it clear you're against any kind of barrier, one would expect the stance you're taking... which is why you and I will never agree. Not that I like the idea but I see the need for a better fence/wall/barrier in more areas *along* with a functioning 'digital wall'. You can't do *far* less than you're capable of and claim you're doing what you can in the way of security (which is job #1 of the federal gov't).
