Intentional equivocation is usually regarded as a fib.

If you are doing it intentionally, please stop fibbing.

"Unix" is a class of operating systems with a very loose definition.
UNIX (all caps) is the trademark. Linux is "a Unix" but is not "UNIX(R)".

This was settled during the famous Berkeley/ATT flawsuit of yore. ATT's
trademark was for "UNIX", but Berkeley could call BSD a "Unix".

I'm going to assume you just didn't know that, and you weren't trying to
fib intentionally. But now you know.

Trivia: That flawsuit meant those of us using Linux couldn't use the
BSD stack -- so there were were, with Fred van Kempen's "net2" code,
which was buggy as hell. My first Linux kernel patch was a bugfix for
bind(2), which we needed for our student-access system to run properly.
Linux networking was kind of spit-and-bailing wire at the time -- but
it worked. Usually.

(NG's trimmed, because this is a Linux post, not an astronomy or physics
post.)

It's actually the "Nobody" nym who was doing this. Go and read the thread.
Because he's too stupid to capitalize "UNIX" correctly and wrote it as
"Unix" doesn't change the point he was trying to make.

Hint - the thread was about "Unix certification" and it's clear to all
exactly what was meant.Your pendantic spelling, while technically correct,
doesn't change his ignorant claim.

That's great. The spelling and capitilaization police have your reward
waiting for you.

Guffaw!!! Tell that to your family doctor. He's a wealthy professional

Probably do run it for billing. Why not? It's an industry standard in that world.

Really?

"The survey found that 83 percent of physicians are now taking advantage of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) on mobile devices."

If they're not running "anything" made by Apple how do you account for surveys like that (where Apple has a healthy showing)? Are they all lying? ;)

A few of the hospital doctors do run macs and love them.
Mostly the latest thing with them now is the use of the iPad and synching to
their IT dept on data collected.

This old saw?

"A lot of linux software comes in the tarball format." Yes, _and_ it's
often packaged up in the distribution's repositories. So that, you
know, they can avoid installing a tarball by USING THE PACKAGE MANAGER.

And around and around we go! Circular logic is thrilling!

Same old ... same old. So GreyCloud uses a distribution where a "lot" of
the programs come in tarballs. Yeah, right. Is he still using Slackware
from 1998?

Like Debian (and most other DEB-based distros) which have well over 20.000
packages in their repos
But that idiot fool *has* to use Redhat. Which is always about 1 year behind
its "normal users" distro Fedora

He would be weeping all day if he wanted to use Slackware. Way too difficult

RedHat is tried and true, for the most part. I'm not stupid enough to
believe all you advocates lies and lack of real knowledge.
Keep blowing your arse off, fool.

And your idiocy is truly amazing.

Yet you still have to deal with tarballs in a lot of cases.
Yum seems to do the job well checking for dependencies, and there are a lot
of them.
But it is far from intutitive, numbnuts.

Which is why you should be using the graphical package manager that
comes with your distribution, "numbnuts".

(Speaking of which, how did your nuts get to be so numb?
Um...nevermind, I don't want to know.)

On Mint, I use Synaptic -- no frills, does what I want.
