I think there is a Fedora book out which discuss services and systemd. I'll see if I can find it. Any modern LPIC book should cover it now. I'll have to get into it again. If the computer wasn't turned off properly (the operating system's fault not the user) and you suddenly put it in a closer environment, the internal temperature climbs rapidly and there's nothing the fans can do to stop the inevitable. Mind you, this is why a problem like the one I faced with the desktop where it wouldn't shut down was something I simply couldn't disregard. Had that been a laptop Ubuntu refused to complete a shutdown on, it would have needed to be replaced. Considering how expensive the machine was, it's nothing I want to do too quickly. -- Silver Slimer
