If anything, it's incredibly unfair as you paid for the movie and deserve to have the right to play it. On the other hand, we're essentially slaves to the content producers and have to play by their rules if we intend to have access to what they're peddling. We can all revolt by refusing to buy what they're selling, but we don't seem to be doing that in large enough numbers to be significant. -- Slimer OpenMedia, GreenPeace Supporter & SPCA Paw Partner Encrypt.

Insulting them ("Linux losers") while explaining how you want a
reasonable discussion without insults.

With a few exceptions, I think it's beyond the "advocates'" ability to
communicate honestly.

Oh, I'll still refer to them as Linux losers even if they have a
reasonable discussion with me. I insist on being honest.

No. MacOS does not do "way better" than Linux. All MacOS
has are one or two unsanctioned players that at best look like
really ugly hacks of mplayer and a very limited set of main
title data.
MacOS suffers from a similar problem as Linux. As a vendor,
Apple never pandered to the various DRM cartels. MacOS was never
corrupted to satisfy the BD cartel or the cable cartel. So both
of those options are not officially supported.

Apple didn't do it because they thought that it was a bad idea. In fact, they were right on board with the publishers wanting to squeeze as much money as possible out of people. That's why they sold low-quality 128kbps DRMed AAC music for the longest time. Once they realized that people were catching on and buying CDs to rip superior quality versions of the music, they changed sides claiming that they never wanted their music to be DRMed in the first place. > And no, trolls, that doesn't mean that I just want to "steal" it. Pull the other one They're not. There were a few efforts, notably from Sony, to DRM CDs around 2004-2005 which ended up putting malware on Windows computers so as to prevent the unauthorized copying of the CD but once that came to light, Sony was forced to backtrack. A few American and Canadian senators would also love to restrict peoples' ability to rip CDs through laws banning the practise but they were silenced. If there is any kind of DRM on the CD now, I'd be shocked. In fact, if they ever try it again, I'll completely stop buying music whether it's on optical media, online or through a streaming subscription. -- Slimer OpenMedia, GreenPeace Supporter & SPCA Paw Partner Encrypt.
