more Macs. The reason why they get a bit more of a bye is
because the stuff is really innovative. It's not the stuff
where you say "Not only is it crap but..."

I'll tell you who's great with the desktop market, it's those
guys, Apple, with I think more than 20 per cent share. But if
you look at things like the Kindle Fire, Android, the
ChromeBook, at all the alternative means of accessing what's
important and what you probably spend 90 per cent of your
time doing, accessing the internet through a web browser,
then I think there's plenty of room for a Linux desktop
there.

One of the big things that's difficult is consistency, and
that's Window's biggest strength.

applications and ensure that Linux does not fragment.

As the standards are provided and then adopted, the Linux
desktop will snowball. Microsoft can compete with a Sun, a
Red Hat or a Novell, but they won't be able to compete with
an ecosystem of Linux desktops...

single vendor, to make sure they run across all the different
distributions...

I am truly sickened by these aficionados of all things virtual, from machines to containers. Although I suppose that virtual machines have their uses they simply grate at my soul. I would not even consider doing anything virtual. I have cut my teeth on assembly language. Once that fundamental stuff gets into your blood it never gets out.
