This is a good example of the kind of inane acrobatics that
must be performed to get a highly efficient and rock solid
Unix program to execute on that piece-of-junk system known

Ridiculous patches must be contrived to allow that junk
OS to do low-level I/O on an SCSI volume as well to handle

Blu-ray disks are NOT just for video.  Blu-ray disks are for general
data storage.

I use M-Disc BD-R:

Of course, to burn Blu-ray one has to know what's happening.  The ISO9660
format only allows 4Gb and thus a UDF format is used in conjunction.
GNU/Linux software offers the most comprehensive control over burning.
Nothing else even comes close.

With BD-R a person's whole lifetime could conceivably be captured on
a single 100Gb disk.

But don't worry.  YOUR lifetime would likely warrant only a 650Mb CD.

I hate watching movies over the internet.  Try backing up a couple of
seconds on a Netflix movie to see what's on a piece of paper a character
is reading.  Oh boy!  I get to watch the last 2 minutes again!  At least
blu-ray and dvd had a proper frame-by-frame rewind/advance.  The internet
is worse than VHS for control.

I have to admit that you're correct for that. I know that if I ever buy 
movies or TV series again (usually just to show them to students), it's 
likely I'll buy Blu-Ray but only because the disc itself has some sort of 
scratch protection which isn't present on DVD discs. I find a video file 
to be a lot more convenient otherwise.

I too greatly prefer blu-ray for movies.  Plus there's a much better
selection, on Netflix.

Occasionally, I peruse the movies available for streaming and wonder

The only way that I could condone Elementary OS's constant demand for fiddling because of undefined dilemmas or inconsistent incompatibilities is if I enjoyed the substantial amount of pipe dreams its developers have been pushing since 2008.So what's Klaus Schadenfreude's poison for the flooding deluge? FileMaker? That is the only language he knows, and it is a joke. He must be using it to produce these idiotic "flooding" garbage posts. My guess, Klaus Schadenfreude took some code that he hacked and try to sell online... he's feeding it data from the program, grabbing "special" paragraphs, then editing those using Markova chains and then he hand posts them because his lack of work enables him to do that close to constantly. His goal is to see Snit frustrated by having me get blamed for his actions. And hey, that could happen. 

Clearly, the only thing that is important to Klaus Schadenfreude is appearing "moral", and if he can't have that he will do whatever it takes to effectively beat Snit down... ignoring him is the only option. 

At times, an inner world is more valuable than faithful descriptions of reality. 

I have known voices in my head who argue better than Klaus Schadenfreude does. 

Now Snit on the other end of the game doesn't matter. All that matters is Klaus Schadenfreude gets to deliver the payload. So how to beat Klaus Schadenfreude at his own game? Don't do anything but ignore the nonsense. Honest discussion isn't part of Klaus Schadenfreude's plan and never was.

Been doing a lot of programming at work lately, so , why would I want to 
do that for fun, except on rare and special occasions?

fiction."  It is adventure.
