I don't know his religion (I'm guessing Muslim) but he is one of the nicest people I know. A doctor who actually listens to what you tell him and patiently answers my questions. Salt of the earth. Usually the "rabid" Wahabbi terrorist Muslims come from Saudi Arabia and associated countries (where the 911 terrorists came from). They're a branch of the Sunni religion (but not all Sunnis are Wahabbis). Iranians are Shia. In Syria there is a mix. Most of the military leaders are Sunni yet they are part of Syrian government run by Assad, who is in a branch of Muslims associated with the Shias. There's also Christians in the Syrian government and military (even the Muslims celebrate Christmas in Syria) – this despite the fact that the United States tries to pretend this is a "sectarian" war. It looks like the Kurds and Assad's government are about to make peace, which means Syria will nearly be completely back in the hands of the sectarian government. (Thanks to Russia's help.) -- The more I see of Windows, the more I like Linux.

In my view, the Shias are a lot more friendly than the Sunnis are (the ones from Saudi Arabia) because the hadiths (amendments to the Qu'ran) they follow seem to be a lot less concerned with conquest and a lot more with integration. That's why I'm always so surprised when the United States defends Saudi Arabia and attacks Iran. Remove that asshole Ayatollah and you'll have an ally in the region. If I'm not mistaken the Shia made an important distinction in Muhammad's call to kill those who would slight a Muslim. Sunnis believe that non- believers should be destroyed through immigration or war no matter what the circumstances are and Shia, as far as I know, believe in defending Islam at all costs _if_ attacked. Funny enough, I had to go get some pizza with my brother-in-law on Friday and the place we ended up in was called something "Kurde" (Kurd in French) something. I don't remember the name exactly but I remember that they were Kurds. Decent people earning an honest living.
