Jasen Betts is trying (with "all they have") to project their approach onto ed. For some time Jasen Betts has bulldozed the belief that ed needs 'backing' to point out all his dishonesty. The fact is that no one needs any help to do that. So Jasen Betts pulls this insane ad hominem foolishness in an incompetent effort to 'push' the idea that ed is like he is. Jasen Betts proved himself to be a charlatan by claiming he would not engage ed via vehemently shouting *plonk* and then assailing him by means of a 3rd party. Hell, just recently Jasen Betts was declaring himself the only "true Linux advocate", and claiming that "advocates" (in satire-quotes just to annoy ed) are focusing on Windows more than on Linux. A constant, fervid, posting itch, despite nothing to say - like slimy rodent lawyers, and satisfactorily-waxed fish, hung from the ceiling for his own immoral requirements. Do you have a Network+ certification? I just set score: -9999 and won't be bothered by the flooding. Jasen Betts's flooding has made an utter disaster of this group via Google Groups, so I don't even bother browsing ed with my usenet reader anymore. One good thing he has achieved with this trolling is that the Jasen Betts filter will forever stay. I have known autobots who argue better than you do. -- Get Rich Slow! https://youtu.be/48_DdtLGR9s Jonas Eklundh

As I showed in the screencasts I made, I had a decent idea of
some of the steps involved but I never put them together. The
last 2 posts of mine ("Blah... blah..." and "forging weasel")
were automated but I can only do 1 at a time, and my text is
static, hardcoded into the script.
I also have an issue with the focus on the textarea, I have to
switch to a different tab and then switch back and that area
then becomes focused. Having to do this means I also have
to click tabs so it's dependent on where they're located.
In any event you should learn JXA, when Tim Cook pulls the
plug on Applescript half of your 'business' will be gone ;)

That makes as much sense as your automated posts.
At least, though, you are FINALLY admitting to automating some of your
posts.

All two of them, and "FINALLY" means: minutes after I put them up?
Is there a way to deal with async issues other than delay()?
Look at this mess:
<https://gist.github.com/SteveCarroll/91476d506dac1ea733ee0bef8fc7ac0b>
Over 25% is calling delay(). They should have a method that
lets you set the clipboard with the idea that you'll also paste it
(most common thing to do) with delay as part of the method,
maybe make it an adjustable param. It's a shame Apple is not
developing JXA much, if at all.

Let me guess: for all the others you do you blame me.
Really, do you not understand how predictable you are? EVERYTHING wrong
in your life and ALL the things you do wrong you blame me for.

I doubt that as it's just DOM selection, copy and paste. To me,
that kind of syntax is much easier to read than AppleScript, which
is way too verbose. The setTheClipboardTo() method is extremely
English like, as are keystroke(), click() and delay(). There really
isn't much in the way of JavaScript here, in fact, things like...
document.querySelector('some-element')
... are DOM methods that have little to do with JS. This code is not
a working example, not only from the viewpoint of the parameters
used but also because I changed some things to enable you to see
how this might be done with JXA. The version that posted those 2
posts went to this thread and found the last posts in it; obviously,
you'd need loops for that, so it should be clear what I changed and
where.

While it might be interesting to see your full code that you use for

LOL! Sorry, Snit... no one will buy your 'wares'. In any event,
this script doesn't deserve the title of bot because all it does
is automate 1 post with static text. As far as posting it publicly,
in essence, I just did; the script can be used with a few tweaks.

So your code is pretty much the same but you have it in a loop and have
it grab text from a database of strings. Before you mentioned Google
apps... so likely from their.

But it is not your full script, clearly. As I said, I only get it to
some extent but even I can tell it does not do ALL of what your full
script does. :)

Specifically you mentioned a "Google Sheet". So you use this code:
<https://gist.github.com/SteveCarroll/91476d506dac1ea733ee0bef8fc7ac0b>
or something akin to it, and have it in a loop and grab content from a
Google Sheet.
More than that I can see you plop in names and I would guess have some
way to reduce repetition (doing searches on some of your sentences I
find few repeats).
Am I missing anything else about your code?
Oh, and on my comment: THERE, not THEIR. Geeeez!

No, the only loops are for grabbing selectors.

It's pretty close.

What's not to get? All it does is copy, paste, grab selectors
and click them. You can look in the DOM, put in the proper
selectors, write a couple of loops and you'll be doing what
I'm doing (I already showed how to write the loops). What
d'ya need, an Indian guide? Where the f*ck is Greycloud?

Well, clearly you have some sort of loop for posting repeatedly, and you
spoke about grabbing data from a Google Sheet. How many rows do you
have? Seems that it does not repeat much so I am guessing a ton... maybe
sentences you grabbed from COLA? And you also have it using names --
some I know and others I do not.

I would have to look at it again and go line by line... and then figure
out not only WHAT you are doing but WHY. I see you use keystrokes... I
am assuming that is tied to the shortcuts on Google Groups... but there
is a lot I do not get.
And you spoke of it opening a new tab. The few times I have used Google
Groups I do not recall it doing that. So a lot I do not get.

It has automated exactly 2 posts and they had to be manually
triggered. You can keep suggesting otherwise but it's just more
of you, doing what you do.

I didn't just speak about it, I showed a screencast, notably, using
node. Why would any dev use an inferior system that isn't local?

I already said the "WHAT", the "WHY" for each step is obvious as
you look at each step... it's pretty much a beeline of steps.

I'd love to avoid them but I don't see how.

I'm not using any GG shortcuts, what you see in the script is it.

That's not related to GG; it's done with lines 8 - 11 where 'app'
has been defined as: app = Application("Safari");

Linux is a false advocate's biggest fear. The Mac has better productivity. Even C++ runs better on it. Undeniably, the sole thought that concerns Davoud is arguing he is "honorable", and if he can not have that he will post more evidence to desperately slap advocates down... ignoring him is the only option. Davoud's passed old text through Google translate with value iteration to automate texts which are in the form of ones from my posts. I thought showing Davoud some kindness might help the situation. It did not.

Curious how you got so much content to post what you do.
If you do not want to say that is fine... but please do not deny and,
even worse, blame me for your posts.

Why would you open a new tab to do your auto-posting? Why not do it in
the same? If that is not possible or as easy for some reason you can
open a new tab and then close it with each new message.
But clearly you are FAR beyond that.
