Gee, do I want to go to ANOTHER side issue meta-debate of yours where
you twist my noting you want me to quote your comments back to you to
suggesting I lied about your comments (an insinuated lie of yours) and
to where you pretend, again dishonestly, that I did not quote your
comments and show the context you pretend does not exist. Well, I guess
I must want to because I just did! But I would prefer if you would grow
up and actually respond to the content where I DO quote you, in context,
and prove you said what you said!

You went back to your games where you demand I quote back to you what
you have said... and then denying you said it because I spoke of what I
disagree with in your views but did not use your exact words.

Even worse you do this AS you lie about what I have said, in this case
claiming I "equated policing in high crime areas with job/college
issues". You made that up in response to my noting I do not back
grouping people by color in either situation, which does not in any way
imply the two situations are equal.

But back to your support of judging people by the color of their skin,
and you being OK with this in situations where black people are shot!

http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0141854
——
The results provide evidence of a significant bias in the killing of
unarmed black Americans relative to unarmed white Americans, in that the
probability of being {black, unarmed, and shot by police} is about 3.49
times the probability of being {white, unarmed, and shot by police} on
average. Furthermore, the results of multi-level modeling show that
there exists significant heterogeneity across counties in the extent of
racial bias in police shootings, with some counties showing relative
risk ratios of 20 to 1 or more. Finally, analysis of police shooting
data as a function of county-level predictors suggests that racial bias
in police shootings is most likely to emerge in police departments in
larger metropolitan counties with low median incomes and a sizable
portion of black residents, especially when there is high financial
inequality in that county. There is no relationship between county-level
racial bias in police shootings and crime rates (even race-specific
crime rates), meaning that the racial bias observed in police shootings
in this data set is not explainable as a response to local-level crime
rates.

-----
What does that last statement tell you? In such areas, given
that stats show a police officer is 18.9 times more likely
to be killed by a black male (who, at 6% commit 42% of
police officer deaths), you wouldn't think it prudent for
them to exhibit a "bias" if they want to come home from work
that night? It's a war zone, the things we'd all like to
believe should be done can't be done, there'd be no one left
alive to do them.
-----
I'm pointing out how they undoubtedly *must* be forced to
look at things in a way that you and I will never have to if
they want to live through the day.
-----
 > They no more have to judge people by the color of

No one has to do anything... but prudence suggests
that it would be in their interest to do so if they
want to live when policing in the high crime areas.
-----
 > You are STILL backing judging people by the color
 > of their skin
I'm just recognizing that police officers in these
high crime areas don't have the luxury not to.
-----

That is you, Carroll, noting your support for targeting people based on
the color of their skin in determining who to shoot. You can cry and
whine and lie when faced with your own words, as you did during your
tantrum over a black person being shown as an example of healthy
masculinity, but you still are responsible for your words.

You have always shown racist tendencies but you used to be better at
hiding them... you used to want to be the KKK member who never had his
hood lifted. Now, perhaps based on Trump's open bigotry and how he has
made it more acceptable in this nation to be a bigot, you have a harder
time keeping your hood on. Or maybe you just do not care to.

??? The name of this thread is Talkin' tech, the ng is about tech.
How do you figure all the off topic BS posts you put up are *not*
side issues... but tech topics are?! C'mon, you can do it... just
switch to some troll about PDFs, menu items being labeled "wrong",
etc. Anyone can see that the way you're going you're going to be
ignored again... which might happen anyway... but wouldn't you
rather be ignored based on a disagreement about tech than
based on you having... well... whatever it is you're having?

See? I didn' even toss in a description of it (and believe me,
it wasn't easy ;) I'm sure all involved, yourself included, would
welcome this change (who knows, chrisv might even promote
you above the rank of "thing").

It was David Brown who flooded benj's site hundreds of thousands of times and pretended he did not do it. A shadow of justification, projected quickly, at the wrong time.

For crying out loud, man... even you have filtered that fool. Given what he is nobody should condemn me for working to be rid of his type of BS. Out-and-out hogwash by an ignorant, fabricating, slippery, colluding peabrain who would not tell the truth no matter what his socks/shills say. Hell, just recently David Brown was declaring himself the only "true Linux advocate", and claiming that "advocates" (in scare-quotes, who he also refers to as "the herd") are trying to make Linux become like the Mac.

Nice, I thought you were taking prescription drugs.

This is something the mainstream media never covers.

You purchased it and took it for a test drive and your "intuitions" lead you to that conclusion, proving what? You're clueless! Good grief, just recently he was declaring himself the only "true Linux advocate", and claiming that "advocates" (in mockery-quotes just to annoy people) are focusing on Windows more than on Linux. You're four seconds away from being in everyone's kill filter.

Steve Carroll's posts are quite thoroughly false. There is no dispute that as soon as any released 'plonked person' does whatever to frighten the feeble milksop's feelings that they'll be put right back in the kill filter.

My statement wasn't in "the context of shootings", it was in the
context of common sense. Crackhead equated college/job related issues
to policing high crime areas.

Snit: "You back such judging when it goes against someone with
dark skin but not when it benefits them."

Me: "I back common sense, a trait that enables me to differentiate

between wildly varied contexts so I don't arrive at a broad based

'solution' to problems that aren't remotely similar. Equating

policing in high crime areas with college/job related issues is so

far past ludicrous I can't come up with a word to describe it...

even 'totally clueless' isn't strong enough."

It was in context to this research:

http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0141854
There is no relationship between county-level
racial bias in police shootings and crime rates (even race-specific
crime rates), meaning that the racial bias observed in police shootings
in this data set is not explainable as a response to local-level crime
rates.
——

You even specifically called out the "last statement" where they speak
of a "racial bias" against blacks that is NOT explained by "local-level
crime rates".

You backed this bias... the specific bias against people based solely on
their skin color.

Ah, you know nothing of the laws being talked about or proposed, no
links for anyone to even look at, you want OTHERS to help you find these
bills or whatever, but you KNOW you are outraged at people.

You have a lot of fear and anger but little knowledge. Fair enough.

I know of a case in my previous school board where two teachers were
essentially being kicked and smacked by the children and, despite
controlling themselves for as long as they could, eventually ended up
putting their hands on the students. One simply grabbed the kid and
told him to stop and the other, if I remember correctly, might have
shoved the kid out of her way. The result: the kid goes home to mommy,
arrogantly tells her what the teachers did carefully omitting what led
to the teacher's response and both teachers were arrested. You can
imagine whether they will get to hold onto their jobs.

In fact, when I left the public system a few months ago and decided to
move into private one, my old school scrambled to find someone to
replace me and they ended up with a woman who had retired as a
teacher. I could control these groups while I was there and I guess
the woman tried as well but something happened and she got arrested as
well. Apparently, one of the many "wonderful" kids who had never
tasted the back of their parents' hands decided to injure themselves
across the neck leaving a mark. Obviously, though the woman most
likely never touched them, they went straight to the principal and
blamed her. To say the least, I left at the most perfect time since
they most likely would have tried something like that with me as well.
Considering how tall, muscular and intimidating I look, I wouldn't
have had a chance with the cops or a judge.

Meanwhile, the kids I have in the private system laugh about how they
get spanked if ever they do something their parents don't approve of
and they are the nicest, hardest-working, most respectful bunch of
adolescents I have ever come across.

You snip my comments because you know you cannot refute them. So be it.

Nanny states, the likes of which Michael Glasser of Prescott, Arizona
is hoping the all of the United States will soon get to enjoy.

All we need to know about spanking is that when it's _unwarranted_ and
endless, it can be considered damaging and will likely lead the child
to become an adult with low self-esteem. However, if it is warranted
and dished out as a last resort when a child truly doesn't understand
the rules, it leads to improved behaviour. Unfortunately, academics
believe that children can be reasoned with and while that is true to a
certain degree, sometimes they don't understand unless some aggression
is displayed or delivered. It also doesn't lead to a broken
relationship with the person dishing out the punishment as the
children eventually grow to understand why they were punished and even
respect the person who hurt them. In fact, they tend to respect the
person's authority even long after it is clear that the punisher no
longer holds any kind of size or strength advantage over his supposed
victim.

All of this is common sense. Of course, none of it appears in
testimonies made by experts - most of which have never had children
and those who do tend to neglect them - in the books and the result is
that the legal system tries to enforce new theories on behaviour
rather than millennia-old practises which have been proven efficient.
