You could adapt to whatever markup you chose to use that may have since changed but one thing I'd point out... future proofing this stuff is often a bit more stable if you look at the most solid points (IOW, likely to stay solid).

Aragorn-like trolls are still yapping about the Linux "ecosystem" as if that seriously would even make sense. I have known voices in my head who argue better than you do. Generally, I would not call something like Aragorn's posts a fantasy right up until you disprove it (as you are here) and Aragorn responds with the gibberish with one of his socks. Idiot. On and on. You're again trying to act like you know as much as Staci M. Elliot. You're the dim bulb and your many stupid tasks show this. No no hell no. He never agreed to stop trolling. He lied about his trolling and that was that. -- What Every Entrepreneur Must Know https://youtu.be/HHT9SJgYsH4 http://www.5z8.info/mydick_x6g9hr_nakedgrandmas.jpg Jonas Eklundh Communication

Wait: you cannot find those quotes (ones you want)... but you attacked me for not finding specific quotes OWL wanted and I did not have any interest in. Do you see the hypocrisy there? Of course you will not... or claim not to. Sure... I started with the assumption of just looking at the page and finding all URLs with "recipe" in them. Assuming they kept that it would have worked. Owl said it was OK to point to the specific pages, and you can see I moved to that in the later version. -- Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. Are the parts of this script that operate the MacOS functions not available if
you use JavaScript instead of AppleScript? Seems like there's just so much BS
there just to get the print links. Try this in a browser console after you go to
the site and it loads:
let recipeLinks = document.querySelectorAll('a[href^="https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/"]')
One caveat, with "querySelectorAll" you get an array-like beast called a Node List,
which you can work with, but you really want an actual array, so we add this 1 step:
let actualArray = Array.from(recipeLinks)
Now you can use array methods like map:
let printPages= actualArray.map(item => item.href.replace(/\?.*/, 'print'))
Were it me, (IOW, a person not trolling over PDFs) I'd go to those print pages,
yank out the container element that houses the thing I want and create an html
page from it. Screw that PDF crap, it takes up too much room for a recipe. They
seem to expect people to do this because they even put an ad inside of that
containing element. I just compacted one to the tune of 12KB so I'm fitting
4-5 times as many recipes in the same space you are... just so you can troll ;)

So what am I missing, what's breaking your script today? Have you tried
removing the other pages (which aren't really needed to see if it works)?

I have no issue with that. As far as why saving them as PDFs, it was Owl's "task" and that is what he suggested. Also makes some sense, given how they are easily shared and can have images and still be one file. Also: both he and I stripped out the ads. :) -- Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. And here I thought you were the PDF troll. iirc, the question became one of conversion speed, so bulk conversion of hundreds of them became the better test, and because snit's internet connection was so much faster than mine, we had to first mirror the site to do a local bulk conversion so as to take network connection speed out of the equation. Snit has been trolling ever since that this was *my* challenge, even though prior to this game of his, I had never downloaded a recipe in my life.

He did... and his solution worked fine, too. Mine was faster but I also had the faster 'net speed. In both cases the time for the script to run was not a big deal, and of course 'net speed will have an influence. > I was aware of some of the BS > surrounding this PDF challenge but not all of it. Nothing wrong with that, either. So... in your mind, if you're trying to rate the speed of one script against another, it's 'OK' to leave factors that have nothing to do with the scripts in the path (of one, not the other)? You talk about this so cavalierly it seems this is your position (which'd be goofy).

If you do I would love to see it. I did open the scripts in Automator -- the third party software was noted as such and I had to re-approve it. Even then the scripts did not work -- I did no other troubleshooting (and likely will not) but I suspect it is from the site changing. And here I thought you were the PDF troll. I offered the web recipe (or lesson plan or craft project) to annotated PDF for emailing and saving "task", he then talked about downloading large numbers from that site. I suspect he thought I would not be able to do it (as I am not able to do many of the programming "tasks") but that would be fine. I have no issue with his "task" nor some of the others he and, I think, Sandman were doing. I would like to see more of that type stuff here. Advertising is a wonderful thing and consumer cluelessness is even better. There is no question that all of them are not automated because some of them are direct responses in very specific ways with attempts to mislead on specific issues, not just gibberish. Now Jessica Lane on the other end of the phone doesn't matter. All that matters is Autumn Nissen gets to deliver the punchline. So how to beat Autumn Nissen at his own game? Don't answer the post. Honest discussion isn't part of contrivance and never can be. Don't look now, but I think Autumn Nissen has a serious obsession with Jessica Lane. What is Autumn Nissen's tool for the flooding nonsense? Access? That is the only tool he knows, or admits to. He must be abusing it to create these goofy "attack" garbage posts. Educated hypothesis, Autumn Nissen took Jessica Lane's code that he hacked and try to sell online... he is feeding it content from this group, grabbing hand-picked paragraphs, then re-writing those using a Markv model and then he actively posts them because his lack of work enables him to do that constantly. -- E-commerce Simplified! http://www.macadvocacy.pw/2005/Nov/09/236626.html http://www.5z8.info/mydick_x6g9hr_nakedgrandmas.jpg Jonas Eklundh Communication
