As I have noted, I enjoy watching the psychology of people here. And, of
course, I promote actual Linux advocacy for the small amount that does
happen here.

I respond, too... and bring up tech topics (and more). Unlike you,
though, I do not run around obsessing over anyone, begging for
attention, lying, and trolling.

I will grant it seems you have backed off your contacting of my family
and co-workers and the like. THAT was far beyond anything at all
reasonable, even for the mosh-pit of COLA.

Basically, yes. Or rather, responding to his assertion that Linux users
are all agog about making sure that the windows in their desktop
interfaces are goosestepping smartly about the screen.

Someone else mentions that it isn't uncommon for the Mac to end up
looking something like the image above, either, so it is ultimately just
a sad person's excuse to quibble about Linux.

What many Linux users want is better productivity, efficiency, and
error-reduction. To get this, yes, it helps to have better use of
consistency, though windows looking the same is really not that big of a
part of that equation. To share with you what I shared with Carroll when
he made up a story about macOS being as poorly done as Linux distos
(Carroll snipped this, knowing he had no good counter and being unable
to admit he was wrong or ignorant about this topic):

-----
While the macOS environment is FAR from perfect in this area, there are
times you want inconsistency. The real issue is the proper use of
consistency (and inconsistency if you will). It is doing so with purpose
and based on what the research shows works. Still, you are right to note
macOS is far from perfect here... for example file dialogs (open and
save) are FAIRLY consistent but far from perfect even with Apple
programs (heck, look at the ones from iMovie to see a fine bit of
insanity). The iMovie UI disaster is one reason I prefer other video
editing tools.

Still, even with iMovie (what I consider to be a pretty big "error" in
terms of UI), the level of consistency with the rest of the system is
pretty amazing. Just some things:

* Menu names and placements. The menu, of course, is where macOS menus
almost always are, and the terms are the same: without even looking, if
you are familiar with macOS, you know where the "Preferences" are and
that they are called that and not "options" or the like, you know where
"Quit" is and what it will be called (and that you can opt to quit
keeping windows or not), you know the Share menu item will give you
options where it makes sense to share your video, you know where to find
the version information.

* With all or at least most of that, you know the hot keys. For example,
you know what hot key will take you to preferences or to do even rather
"obscure" things like get to Emoji and symbols if you are adding text.

* You know what the Share icon will look like and (at least roughly)
what it will do.

* You know that the file dialogs, as "odd" as some are (Import Media),
will have the "action" button on the far right and the "no action"
option to the left of that.

* You know that when you go to import an image you will be able to look
for it by Album or People or Places or the like.

Now iMovie does have an inconsistent color -- a darker theme. This makes
sense though given the context (though carrying this over the the file
dialogs seems odd). The fact Photos does NOT have this except for in its
Edit mode is rather absurd, really. That is a case where an inconsistent
UI (or at least the option for one) would be a benefit and Apple fails
to provide it (or if they do I am not aware of it).

A *real* advocate would not feel the need to lash out with insults, as
you just did, instead of just admitting you are not really familiar with
this area. No harm in that. There are many areas I am not as well versed
on as you, I am sure.

Bottom line: your ignorance in this area makes you feel insecure so you
lash out. As I showed, real advocates have no such need.

Nothing EVER changes with "Snit." He's the most monotonous drone who ever
lived. I guess he doesn't even notice that the Windows UI (since Windows 8)
isn't even consistent with itself (and that's before you install a single
application).

He prefers to be called "Michael Glasser of Prescott, Arizona," quotes
included.

In fact, I'm fairly sure that there was a 800-post thread in which he
argued the merits of calling him by that name because of how it
improved productivity and error-reduction.

Michael P. must know Fred Moore knows he is just trolling!

Michael P.'s posts are nothing but an incomprehensible brain dump. Lines of text containing blips and bloops.

The sheep must think that it's OK, if Micro$oft does it. Whether it's
having '.' on your path, or ribbons in your applications, or needing
to use two, radically-different, UI's.

Maybe it's the fact that they don't have any choice in the matter,
that placates the sheep. Freedom seems to frighten them.

If that image above is Win10, IMO it looks like a clusterfuck. Desktop
full of icons, programs all open on ONE screen, & Win 10 is *supposed*
to be an OS made by "professionals"? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Here's more from the "professional" OS makers:

Wanted that Windows 10 update but have an Intel SSD? Computer says no
600p and Pro 6000p devices beset by 'incompatibility issues'.
