Prescot Parasite? What is that? I just want to know why you would use such a backwards, incomprehensible operating system. Seriously, Macs are so much easier to use and better all around. Just look at iMessage. There is no 3rd party alternative to that.

Not all of us are Linux users. As for iMessage though, there are tons
of alternatives to that. Skype and ooVoo are two, both of which are
cross-platform unlike iMessage. The open-source ones are different in
that they don't provide video but they also don't log your messages to
provide them to the cops the way that iMessage does.

iMessage is still superior, though. I have yet to see the doodle feature replicated on any platforms.

From what I'm reading most of the so called Linux users in this group
work at jobs where they use Windows software. And some of the most vocal
of the bunch don't even appear to use Linux to post.

Now you're getting the hang of it.
Most of them use windows and get in here and say that it is a bad os. Yet a few
never use linux, which is hypocrisy.
The only real way to advocate linux is to use linux and help those trying to get
a start with linux.

I don't think they really have a choice but to use Windows at work;
Linux jobs are usually exclusively administrative work from what I've
seen. No company is hiring to produce Linux software other than RedHat
as far as I can tell since there is no money to be made selling such
stuff on the platform.

That's utter bullshit. What do you think are those cities like Munich doing?
They have ported as much as financial sane to linux

I am developing *on* and for linux. The software is used about the same as
the OSX version, about 10% each of the customers, and 80% for the windows
version

Besides OS agnostic technologies I believe that web applications mainly
run on Linux and it is rare today that someone develops desktop GUI. Of
course there are companies to rely on Microsoft exclusive technologies
but net core is ported to Linux not without reason.

"Good job" quoting slime's sig, "Jim". Idiot.

In my job, certainly. I'm kind of a technical "jack of all trades",
and only some kind of specialist could avoid Windows.

So, Linux is, by far, the most-used OS on on the planet, and Red Hat
is the only company that hires Linux programmers.

Is that what you are saying, "Slimer"?

Fsck, it is *mind boggling* how *stupid* you Linux-haters are.

Go pound sand chrisv.
It's not my job to anticipate everything or anything that might trigger

BTW, you just quoting the entire message yourself.

I'm getting the feeling that chrisv is indeed a woman and that she is
some 400-pound social justice warrior with purple hair, thick glasses
and tits that go all the way down to her knees. It's amazing how
easily women get angry if they've never been touched by a man in their
lives.

What does slime think that the countless companies that are selling
Linux-powered products are doing? Does he think they are shipping
their products with off-the-shelf RHEL? Guffaw.

Apparently, once a lying dipshit like "Slimer" makes a public asshole
of himself by declaring that FOSS "provides no effective or realistic
way of making money from programming", he must regularly thereafter
spew supporting idiocy and lies.

Of course, he will get some support from trolling morons like

Maybe I'm missing something here but it seems to me that two scenarios
are being blurred into one.

From the point of working in a job using Windows and simply quitting
that job to work in a job that uses/allows Linux just to follow an
ideology is what I'm referring to.
In that respect I have problem with someone who earns a living with one
OS but advocates another OS. The important thing is to put food on the
table. I doubt you'll find all the people who work at the GM plant
driving GM cars exclusively.
One size doesn't fit all.
As for Linux jobs of course there are plenty of Linux jobs out there.
I don't think that is even in question.

If these "countless companies that are selling Linux-powered products"
existed as hypochrisv says they do, the Linux "advocates" in this
newsgroup (her included), wouldn't have to work at a Windows job to
pay the bills.

>> Of course, he will get some support from trolling morons like

- From smart people, sure.

The problem for me is that hypochrisv didn't understand what I was
referring to. There might be Linux programming jobs, but they are not
as plentiful as the "advocates" in this newsgroup suggest because
companies producing software, like Corel, Adobe and others, don't hire
Linux programmers to make ports of their software for the open-source
operating system. Why? Because nobody pays for software in Linux and
most potential users would rather bitch "show me the code" than pay
even a dollar for indispensable software. Like I said before, if these
"countless companies" were hiring people to program on Linux, there
wouldn't be so many hypocrites in this newsgroup boasting about Linux
all the while using Windows.
