That's what killfile filters are designed for. Nobody in particular, just an irritating person that people may reply to. I'm going to see the replies anyway so what's the use of the KF in this kind of situation. With snit it's a different ballgame. He posts the same message 100's of times and nobody really replies to him so KF snit makes sense because there are no replies.

He's pretty obviously trying to keep the trolling going. -- A visit to a strange place will bring fresh work.

I used to use a kill file on snit and his socks a long time ago, but now I have nobody in there. Snit left and only an occasional snit sock shows up. When they do I just pass them by. It would be fun to show a true newbie to Linux if they are interested in leaving their other platform behind for linux. That's where the advocacy starts. Marek does a pretty good job at that. Better than I ever could do.

As for kill files, the point I am making is that since there are followups what is the point? I just pass them by and move on.

The only ones that require serious filtering are the snit rants with the same message posted many times. The sheer number of those make it difficult to read the other more interesting threads.

I just pass them by and move on. Since you're using slrn, you can use [esc]-t to collapse and un-collapse a whole thread. If a whole thread has gone troll and you want to avoid it, that's a simple way to move past it. Now, while it is collapsed pressing d will mark the whole thread read, not just the top post in the thread. You can be anywhere in the thread and this will work. So it's just [esc]-t and then d and the whole thread is marked read and easily passed on. No kill file needed for that. I use a kill file on Snit and his socks for two reasons: 1) He's very redundant and I don't wish to read or even see the same post repeatedly. 2) He's only purpose is to post something so crazy that you will feel need to respond to it. He's here for the shock value. He's clearly out of depth here and claiming otherwise as he does is simply a circus show. There is no point to reading it or responding to it. Nothing is gained. It's just pure stupidity. You can laugh at it for only so long and then it becomes irritating. I have yet to see him post a single thing that was even remotely interesting to me. Trolling is one thing. Snit is just irrational and weird. He just doesn't belong on usenet at all, let alone a Linux group. -- Marek Novotny https://github.com/marek-novotny

Snit belongs in a mental health treatment center where he can get help to remedy his myriad of problems. He probably has a chemical imbalance in the brain of some sort and that is not going to disappear unless he happens to be very lucky.

Well, I, for one, will not have a "debate" with some POS who *lies* to misrepresent and attack, or who will call me a "hypocrite" because I'm not "open source pure". Advocating software Freedom and consumer choice does not equal the rejection of closed-source software. -- "Chrisv uses Forte Agent? Wow, he's an even bigger hypocrite than I imagined." - "Slimer"
