Productivity, efficiency, and error-reduction has become tool or a myth if you will to attack Linux. It was created a while back by our local mythomanaic to spew incredible amount his shit. There has been no credible, impartial study done on P-E-E with common criteria to evaluate all the OSs on equal footing. Until that day, any claims against Linux using P-E-E is nothing but laughable. Over the years using Linux, my productivity, efficiency, and error-reduction has been at the highest level. That is what Linux is all about. No wonder Linux has become the most dominant computing platform today. In cola, the come-back is usually the lame “we only want to talk about DE”. Pathetic creatures! Be warned, shouting from trolls will increase further as Linux gains more ground. It is only natural!

Linux is used on far more than 2% of the computers in the world. Can you not read? He was talking about overall computing, vs. you and your ilk constantly (trying to) frame the discussion in terms of desktop environments. Not only does that not work anymore, but the lines are blurring between what constitutes a "server environment" and a "desktop environment". >> today. I doubt that DimRabbit will acknowledge it. In fact Linux is *the* most dominant OS in the world, running everything from Internet routers, automobile diagnostics, automobile onboard computers, Smart TVs, smart phones, supercomputers etc. The only place where windows dominates is on teh desktop, otherwise in other fields it's rather an insignificant player. And despite the anti-linux trolls quoting "web stats" & Linux desktops being at 1% to 2% (it's already been shown, quite few times, that "web stats" using the browser are not trustworthy) M$ *themselves* put Linux desktop usage at around 10% to 12%. One final thing, M$ profits have *fallen* by 25% & shares in M$ have fallen by 4%. "Sales were impacted by the ever-shrinking PC market. " First-quarter 2015: Windows sales were *down* across the board. First-quarter 2016: Windows sales for the consumer version grew 15%, while the enterprise version saw an 11% decline. Windows-based PCs have fallen from a 95% market share a decade ago to 90% today, according to Morningstar. They lost ground to Apple & Google devices. -- openSUSE 13.2 64-bit KDE 4.14.9 Kernel: 4.5.0-10.1.gb98c3d3-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Apr 11 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux This message is virus free, as absolutely NO Micro$oft products were used in its preparation. One of our clients is a specialist in Auto Diagnostics and is launching a Cloud based diagnostic system., The devices and the Cloud don't use Linux. A Ford dealer we support has loads of diagnostic tools, they use Windows laptops. The Smart TV stuff was covered recently, some do indeed use Linux and some use propriety systems, the jury is still out as to whether Linux is dominant here. Ah Android, the malware magnet that is hardly ever updated as the carriers would rather you buy new hardware, Apple got that right - IOS isn't Linux. How many supercomputers do you think are in the world and what percentage of the total computers do you think it represents, I suspect the figures are a lot lower than you would wish them to be.

A few years back I > remember reading an analysis by a fellow who put forward sound, > convincing arguments and placed Linux desktop at that 10 – 12% range. Still low. There has been a number of occasions where I've put forward a Linux based solution over a Microsoft one only to be told to implement the Microsoft solution. The perception (right or wrong) is that Linux is free so therefore has no value and no support. Where I've presented solutions without mentioning the underlying OS (Web hosting, spam filters etc), Linux has been used. So I don't think that being at 10% or 20% would make a difference, people see things with no price as valueless but if it's got a good price tag then it has value even if it might not necessarily be the best - Think Apple products.

What you actually think is evidence is really a lip service on the internet, the type street walkers do when you throw money at them. Anyone can publish anything on the internet, it does not necessarily make it true. If you wish to be gullible and swallow it whole, that is your prerogative.
