First off if you purchase OSX you are not pirating it. You might be in violation of the license though depending upon where you live. If you live in a country that regards the EULA as legally binding (e.g. the USA), you are subject to the clause that says the software may only be installed on a single apple labeled computer. > You don't seem to have those scruples. It just requires a lot more effort than it would take to build a working Linux box. Your choices of hardware is much more restricted and AMD is certainly out of the question. What you end up with would not be a PC that you can pretty much freely upgrade or change as necessary. Anything you ever did to it would also fall under very strict hackintosh guidelines.

There are hacks to get around the things that Apple does to try
and tie you to their hardware and only their hardware.

Well, you can find hardware that's just the same from Dell and such.
It's funny because you end up seeing the same kinds of problems with both
hardware, especially if you are running an operating system that can be
installed on both.
Good luck running Mac on a random PC.
MacOS won't run on any of my PCs but Linux runs fine.

Right (assuming you mean OS X... but you make that mistake a lot, one of the challenges with you living your tech life in the 1980s). Anyway, even with that, and with Linux free, Linux can not get even 2% of usage. -- * OS X / Linux: What is a file? <http://youtu.be/_dMbXGLW9PI> * Mint MATE Trash, Panel, Menu: <http://youtu.be/C0y74FIf7uE> * Mint KDE working with folders: <http://youtu.be/7C9nvniOoE0> * Mint KDE creating files: <http://youtu.be/N7-fZJaJUv8> * Mint KDE help: <http://youtu.be/3ikizUd3sa8> * Mint KDE general navigation: <http://youtu.be/t9y14yZtQuI> * Mint KDE bugs or Easter eggs? <http://youtu.be/CU-whJQvtfA> * Easy on OS X / Hard on Linux: <http://youtu.be/D3BPWANQoIk> * OS / Word Processor Comparison: <http://youtu.be/w6Qcl-w7s5c>

It is what allows Apple to have the ecosystem they have that others can't quite pull off though MS is making some very good moves in that direction. And it ensures that the OS and hardware will work nearly flawlessly, which is not the case in the much wider hardware configurations that Windows and Linux run into. > >> So OSX is tied to hardware which is no different in most cases? >> Do you really want to probe that you are a snittish idiot? > > Well, you can find hardware that's just the same from Dell and such. > It's funny because you end up seeing the same kinds of problems with > both hardware, especially if you are running an operating system that > can be installed on both. > > Good luck running Mac on a random PC. > > MacOS won't run on any of my PCs but Linux runs fine. That's correct, MacOS won't run on any PC that anyone owns. OSX will though. -- Lloyd

Linux DOESN'T run fine. I tried running the latest Ubuntu on this laptop and whether I ran it with the GTX 970M or the Intel HD 4600, the live CD didn't even get to boot to desktop. "Fine" is a word that NEVER applies to Linux. -- Charmed Tuna
