Oh, Dell and HP are raking in money on their desktop Linux offerings.

Or not.

So you are using a metric to rate Apple by which they do not push to get.
Huh? Are you really that ignorant?

Apple makes it very clear they want high quality products - and sell them
for a higher price than the average PC. They do not strive to have OS X beat
Windows in market share.

You really know NOTHING of the desktop world.

'can't get any traction'?

What kind of childish moron are you, wRonG? Apple has sold 100 million+
expensive Macs, and became the most valuable company in the world.

Linux distros still struggle to get $5/month donations.

Apple gets *very* large profits from small sales.
http://www.businessinsider.com/apples-incredible-profits-and-small-market-share-2013-5?IR=T

"Apple reports largest profit in history." - Jan 27th 2015

IDC smartphone share Q2 - 2015
Android 82% - iOS 13.9%

(Oh, & for those that are interested, windoze phones are at 2.6%)

"Go figure" as they say.

Reminds me of the old adage "A fool & his money are soon parted."

And still, DooFuS, percentage-wise (have some five year old explain the
concept to you) Apple is a failure in the PC market. Which, of course,
was my point. You members of the Bitter Old Brain-Dead Biddy Committee,

It most certainly is not a failure in the PC market space. It is the
premium end of that market and the most profitable by far. That you can't
see that just shows your ignorance.

You never said that about Linux, whose share is 1/3 of Apple's. Why
didn't you say 'Linux is a failure in the PC market', wRonG?

Now slink away like an advocate always does.

> Which, of course, was my point.

Funny how you snipped your idiot "point":

"And Mac OSX is all the things the trolls say Linux needs to be to
succeed -- and yet they can't get any traction with all their
$Billions and slick advertisements."

100 million+ sales of an expensive and very profitable computer is lots
of "traction", moron.

> You members of the Bitter Old Brain-Dead Biddy Committee, just aren't
> that swift, are you?

As a group, the "Wintrolls" here are MUCH more intelligent than the pack
of lying idiots who call themselves "advocates".

You: "Apple's empire is falling apart, bit by bit." (Apr 2012)

heh! What an idiot.

Christopher Hunter - advocate extraordinaire:

* "we have (out of about 450 homes in this neighbourhood) roughly 61%
Linux, 35% Mac and 4% who were too ashamed to admit to anything!"
    (Feb 2007)

* "Linux uptake in /this/ neighbourhood (of roughly 120 dwellings)?
88%! The rest are almost entirely Macs, with just /one/ Windoze XP
machine used by a kid who plays games." (Mar 2008)

Notice his 'neighborhood' magically shrank by 70% in a year, while the
Linux uptake magically grew from 61% to 88% in the same year. Is it
another Linux miracle... or is it another lying Linux dirtbag?

ronb is stuck on the idea of user base / marketshare as if that is the only
measure of success.

For a groups of products such as those in the desktop Linux family, where
they can be generally had for no cost and run on existing hardware, there is
a strong correlation here (though there are also other factors). And here
desktop Linux is shown to do poorly.

But for a product which runs only on the hardware of one company (at least
in any supported way) and is not sold on cheaper hardware, user base is a
poor measure of success. Does not mean that a gain in share is not a good
sign for such a product nor that a loss in share would not be a possible bad
measure, but to compare the share of such a product with the low end of the
market is absurd.

Comes down to ronb being completely clueless of even the basics... making
excuses for desktop Linux's poor adoption ratings and trying to make it
sound like OS X HIGHER adoption ratings are somehow a sign OS X is not as
good. Completely irrational of him.

Maybe it's because you are too stuck in the past with old programming
methodologies. Meaning, you can't grok Apples paradigm, old fart.

I don't care if MacOS is crap or not, the machines certainly are.

Although the big deal breaker is the lack of commercial software.

This is where the still marginal aspect of MacOS rears it's ugly head.

Not really. The hardware is OK. Just way too expensive. You get much faster
machines for that price

Yes you can get faster machines for less. As long as you like plastic

Sure, not all are the same. Some feel flimsy and cheap... others not so
much. OK.

Yeah, you can only connect somewhere over 100 devices at a time. No
expandability at all!

much.

Great box I guess. Since I'm not one of those it is designed for, I
haven't spent much time thinking about or looking at them.

Care to name specific grades with product examples? Didn't think so.

In any case, the reality is that changing from Apple's Aluminum
case to the typically used injection molded plastic saves the Dells
only around {$20 vs $5} = $15 or so.

Clearly not.

> With expandability homing in on zero point zero?

None...Except for Thunderbolt, which is akin to having
externally accessible PCI bus lanes without the physical
constraints of having to fit inside the box.

> And a price tag as if the box is made out of mitril

But with the irony being that no one could match the trash can's
hardware specs at the Apple retail price...ie, to not buy Apple
means spending even more than Mithril

You've managed to zero in on the single most irrelevant superficial
sort of thing while completely ingoring a whole universe of potentially
meaningful issues.

You demonstrate zero actual clue or originality while you mindlessly
repeat Apple marketing platitudes.
