Dude, if you believe ANYTHING the "advocates" here say, you're clearly
retarded.

Yeah, the "advocates" claim I lie and use socks. Do not believe them. Glad
to see you agree. Or, wait, if you do then what have you just said that
makes you?

Enjoy paying your money to keep Apple, Inc. rich. They'll never get a

You are a Linux user.
You can't afford Apple.
And I doubt they care.

In the world of business you learn you can't sell to everyone, and it's not
worth selling to everyone.

Right. Apple sells to people who want higher quality and for whom the lack
of some of the niches Windows serves better is not important (and some of
those are big).

No. To maximise profits a business usually has a minimum selling price knowing
it will lose all customers that can't afford that.

One can get a far better computer for the $600 minimum Apple charges for
the Mac Mini, or the $1,000 minimum they charge for a laptop. Apple
doesn't lose customers simply because people can't afford their
products. They lose customers because Apple products are a poor value
for the price.

I have a Mac mini and two iMacs in my house because they were the best value
for the price. But different people have different needs - buy what works
for you.

If the price dropped $200, they'd sell more. If the fixed O-Mess X so
that it didn't act so retarded, they'd probably get a few more. But the
price alone chases a lot of people away from even trying it.

It's not that it's too expensive to buy. There's a Mak laptop in the
house that the ol' lady paid $2500 for. If I wanted I could get one
for me, and one for Sinister Jr, too. But why? He can't play the
games he wants. And I already spend a lot more time fighting it on
behalf of Mrs. Midget than I care to.

Thom Crews' half-breed daughter is nothing more than another
koolaid-drinking cultist.

Sure: make it cheaper and more people would get it. Of course. That is true
of pretty much anything.... well, except for desktop Linux which is easy to
get for *free* and yet is at less than 2% usage.

Get what you want. If you are a game player the Mac is likely not a great
choice.

While I won't get into the argument about whether that is good for the
consumer, from the company perspective they really believe, and I do
too, that they will make more profits structuring their prices where
they are at. And it seems the stock market likes them when they do it.

I never heard of a Mak laptop before, which Chinese knock-off mfg did
she get it from?

Value is in the perception of the customer. Would $10 mac mini be valuable
enough for you at that price? $50? $100? $300? $599? Apple chose a price that
loses you as a customer.

I did not want to spend the price to get a new mini, nor did I need it - so
I got a used one. Cheaper and serves my needs fine. My iMac is a new one - I
have a need for it - but my wife has an older one, her needs are less.

And my phone is an old, cheap flip-phone I pay very little for.

Just depends on what you need.

The walled-garden of Apple might also keep some people out of that Eden.
