LOL! Quit whining. If you're not understanding part of it, ask.

They are for pasting (cmd-v), hitting return(36) and tab(48).
For example, this...
se.keystroke('v',{using:['command down']})
delay(0.5)
se.keyCode(36)
delay(0.5)
... is pasting something from the clipboard.
The clipboard content is set by the method: setTheClipboardTo()
You'll notice that I enclose with backticks (not single quotes), ex:
app.setTheClipboardTo(`I use these backticks so that I can have
the text span multiple lines and so that I can reference variables
and concatenate with a much nicer syntax.`)
> I assumed they were the Google Groups shortcuts.
No, but as I look at those right now I see there might be a way for
me to remove a bunch of code and solve the textarea focus issue.

I skimmed... I am not begging to understand it though I might go back
and look. Not sure why it is so important to you for me to understand it.
I do want to better understand the overall picture, but what you are
doing is not something I have any desire to join in.

And tabbing through the fields I assume. OK.

Makes sense.

Cool. I think. Maybe not.

"LOL! Quit whining. If you're not understanding part of it, ask."

clear he is open to learning more but is pretty ignorant of the

Sigh... every time I give you a chance you go out of your way to blow
it. Really... I would love to have a better understanding of what you
are doing there.
It is amazing how people in COLA assume I am knowledgeable about all
areas of tech... to the point you insist you cannot believe it when I
note my ignorance in an area.

What did you assume from the lying imbecile? That Doc O'Leary dunce has nothing to waste but time. He has nothing else. Especially not a life. An unceasing, relentless, posting itch, while suffering from an empty mind - like slippery Doc O'Leary tarts, and vigorously-greased ram, stuck in a mud hole for his own personal desires.
All that he cares about is that Doc O'Leary gets to dish out his automated call and then hang up and giggle about it. The fact that Malcolm McLean is an innocent patsy on the other end of the phone is what gets him off.
A sucking vacuum of ideas, magnified by the reciprocal of a limitless imagination, demonstrating the vast nothingness of Doc O'Leary's so-called thought process. Despite my own knowledge of Debian, I still continue to use it for those who have had difficulties with the Mac.
Once Malcolm McLean grokked how convincing Doc O'Leary is at playing 'fall guy' he understands this is not nearly as insane as it appeared.

That, and there will perpetually be a butthurt insomniac or more in an open news group (hello The Flying Spaghetti Monster). The flooding BS aside, we've all seen who uncontrollably blames others when he doesn't get nonstop attention. Requesting The Flying Spaghetti Monster to stop trolling, which I have done, is not the same as quoting his deceptions. My main idea was that good people arrive here _to_ combat trolls. It's not as if most do not quickly figure out what this place is, Steve Carroll included. Do you believe the nonsense The Flying Spaghetti Monster is pushing? At one point, The Flying Spaghetti Monster said a COLA denizen was "obsessing" over him, which was identified as replying to his posts. This one makes use of the calling convention above:

The only thing is, if it's called twice with different colors, it changes
the colors of any previous block. I could maybe code it differently to
work around that, but only 8 defined fg/bg color pairs are allowed at any
one time, so it would still be limited.

It is good that you can do such things... but there is also benefit to

I've tried it. IIRC it's buggy and has changes to the sc syntax/commands. Nice colors though. I just rebuilt it and tried it again. The "go" command is broken, at least on my build. I'll do some research later and see if I can get it running properly.

Depends on how you look at it. If you have the need to make a lot of
these, the scripts you just showed beat what I have shown hands down.
Even if I fiddled and came up with some AppleScript (or, to make Carroll
happy, JavaScript) method to do it, it would no doubt be slower. I might
be able to work with this and modify it:
<https://iworkautomation.com/numbers/table-populate.html>
You are able to just add simple data to a text file, I assume, where I
would have to do more.
But that is for that ONE task. If you have to do that ONE task a lot,
even with some variations, you can script it to work very well. No doubt.
What Numbers gave me was a way to do an arbitrary task very quickly.
With this one, making a bigger multiplication table, I was able to do it
with NO prep and no scripting in mere seconds:
<https://youtu.be/Y8KLSAWrPKY>
Granted, on iOS, the first time, I made a number of mistakes and was
slower (go figure) but it was pretty easy to learn. Once I have those
basics I can do a wide variety of tasks, even on a 4 inch screen, fairly
efficiently (give the size of the screen). On a desktop, of course, I
can do more and better. And as I showed it updates on the device I am
not used in (almost) real time.
Even with that, though, Numbers is limited. It is designed for ease of
use but NOT for scripting and NOT for any major number crunching. If you
set up a task -- ANY task -- which requires a 1000x1000 table I assure
you that Numbers would choke on it (it might be able to handle it but it
would be slow and clunky). And that is JUST 1000x1000, it is not as
though there are not MANY examples of real world work which require MUCH
more than that.
For what most people do, though, with just small sets of data and using
spreadsheets to do fairly simple math, Numbers is a great tool. For the
type of work you tend to focus on, though, sc (or even Excel) would be
better.

No data file. The data fill is done the same way as before, with
cell references.

But this is just a macro that can be used by *any* sheet. I have
the fkeys tied in here just to make it quicker, but any sheet
can call that macro with a "merge" ('M') command. So, while
it is specific right now to a mulitplication table, it could
be trivially re-written to just create a blank, formatted table
of any dimensions.

In the context of Numbers vs SC, I'm more interested in GUI vs CLI
methods. Stock SC is itself limited for crunching, given that it can only
handle 702 columns x 32K rows. That's one of the reasons I hacked it.
(Although I keep running into things my initial hack breaks, such as
frames, so that needs work). Trying to use anything GUI on such a
small screen as my cell phone makes what I already consider to be
the superior interface (CLI) almost a necessity.

Are you talking about the 'i >' cursor where it paused for input,
or something else? Is that 'i' prompt built into sc? I saw a video
circa 2010 showing input for Numbers on iOS (but not MacOS).

While you need it for consumer facing stuff, the GUI stuff eats up
real estate fast on mobile.

I was pretty impressed with how well Numbers on iOS handled the 10x10 multiplication table "task", but, yeah, for anything significantly larger than that it would just be miserable to work with. Of course, MOST work is pretty miserable to do on a 4 inch screen. :) -- Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. Sure... you can script for specific situations MUCH better with sc than
I can with Numbers (both because of our skills but, far more important
for comparisons, the programs in question).

The point I am making is I did not have to script that. I just opened
the file and did it... you saw ALL the work done in the file. NO prep
other than to open it and make it full screen (mostly for the sake of
recording).
Again, do not get me wrong about scripting -- as you know, even as a
CRAPPY scripter, I have a number of things automated, but I tend to have
my things be more universal (not tied to a single task or even single
program much of the time, or when it is a single task it is more visual
but only there when more likely to be relevant).

At the time I speculated there may very well be a reason they limited
the tables to the sizes they did.
> Trying to use anything GUI on such a

For the 10x10 case my 4 inch screen was adequate, but even with that I
clearly ran into issues (dragging and having the table be "lost" off the
screen. Not the end of the world and still took only a minute to do the
task (not including my "extra" formatting) but for anything much larger
that would be a mess.
The two programs (sc and Numbers) while both being spreadsheets are VERY
different animals with use-cases that overlap some but with MANY
different areas of strength.

And like I said before, SC makes it far easier to do things like, for instance, expand one of these tables to gigantic size. No need to drag a GUI handle across a scrolling screen for hundreds of rows or columns. Just feed your command a range such as C38:ZZ500. But things like alternating colors for lines (which are not a builtin format option) -- while doable manually -- are done much more easily with a script using a loop. >>>> In the context of Numbers vs SC, I'm more interested in GUI vs CLI >>>> methods.
