Really, it makes conversations flow better. For the record, here was my actual reply: ----- Some of the things we have been discussing and have in the past. sc is made more for scripting and "heftier" number crunching, and to run "light" on a system. Numbers is made more for ease of use, flexibility in layout, integration with other media (images and text boxes, as examples), and for simple formatting. As examples of the types of things Numbers is designed for, you can look at the templates. Was going to list them here but easier to just show a video. :) <https://youtu.be/rT6R_sHnyYM> Or the real world example I used with you before: <https://youtu.be/VzVKlou6byU> -- Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. They cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel somehow superior by attacking the messenger. They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again. <https://youtu.be/H4NW-Cqh308>

It was Peter the Klöwn who flooded Melzzzzz's site millions of times and denied it. What do you get out of lying, Peter the Klöwn? Just look at your videos and look at mine, there is nothing for us to learn from a fool like Peter the Klöwn. But whatever, let him keep making an imbecile of himself. He can make another sock to pat himself on the back. Peter the Klöwn asked to be rated according to objective trolling criteria, which Melzzzzz indulged. Richard Stallman is a false advocate's biggest fear. His "technical support talents" diverted his attention from an extension he needs that does exist on Red Hat. The only thing malfunctioning here is Peter the Klöwn. 'Cuz you like to play 'victim', obviously. > Why not just focus on tech. LOL! Here's the reality on that... That screencast proves I focus on doing tech, unlike you, who talks about it here and there to facilitate trolling. Owl focuses on tech by doing, not just talking. Your use of tech is limited, for the most part, to the use of things that are pre-configured for you. This is why you just don't 'get' the use of the CLI in the hands of a person capable of using it well. You do have AppleScript to get you past some of that limitation so why don't you put it to use? The reason is it would take "actual" learning. Owl said that Numbers can't interact with external sheets, which seems to be true. But isn't there a way around that limitation? Couldn't you grab data from a GoogleSheet and bring it into Numbers using AppleScript? Seems like a worthwhile thing that might in come in handy to know. To me (and to owl) focusing on tech also means doing it... which can be limited to the use of pre-configured solutions but they don't provide much of a learning experience (the other reason you claim to come here).

This almost makes me want to get ahold of an Android device ;) In an environment like that, is it possible to get direct access to something like a 'Google Sheet'?

I've never tried that, but this looks promising: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vISRn5qFrkM Also, if you can get that sheet downloaded as csv, then you can import it directly into sc.

Since sc is able to use external commands, you could possibly have sc cell values sent to a google sheet by hitting a hotkey inside of sc. If you didn't want to bother with that, at the very least you should be able to interact with a google sheet from a command line script, and use vim as your script editor.

Were I to do this I probably would mess around with external commands. Excel is even opening itself up to the bane that is JavaScript (a new thing for Feeb to have a fit over): <https://www.wired.com/story/microsoft-excel-javascript/> I just now watched that video, I didn't know Google Drive had an API! This is pretty handy and it solves a problem with some data by a client of mine who is afraid of computers but has managed to work their way up to using Google Docs (a little, enough for this to be useful to me).

Damnit, now I have to go back and look at python again. If DFS were here, he could be a big help in quickly translating some bash to python to get SC working with gspread.

There's definitely some value in learning a language like Python and, given your knowledge, I doubt you'd have much trouble with doing this. If you're more accustomed to C syntax I think you can also do it with JavaScript.
