Their C compiler needs other conditions compiled in to make it work, something that isn't standard and a pure pain. Tin already came as a binary so I used that. Besides, OpenVMS is on its death bed anyway due to HPs lack of interest. -- My problem is that I don't have enough middle fingers.

You know I don't remember. It would have to be. Pretty sure. I suppose I could do it again. You can google it. I am absolutely sure I did it. Not hard at all. About a year or more ago. I saw someone else using it on here by watching the headers and so I wanted to try it. One of the guys in the mac advocacy group is using it. Maybe read a few headers in there and you'll run into it or just google slrn for the Mac. You'll run right into it. -- Marek Novotny https://github.com/marek-novotny

Which are apples way of "here is some scripting imitator for the imbeciles unable to do simple tasks" And it wasn't just a simple command to type in. The way I *wanted* to set up the NFS shares is *impossible* under OSX. The software will not balk until you actually try to use the shares. Not a single word or warning message when setting up the shares. The very same setup under linux works flawlessly. So I had to circumvent the limitations of OSX to do a extremely simple (on linux) job. Nice work, apple. You could not screw up simple things more "elegantly". And yes, apples NFS software is bullshit. It used to be "better" under Snow Leopard, but apple (again) knew better and removed most of the stuff. They probably know the Snits out there and decided to leave out the "dangerous" stuff

I ended up using DAVE because Apple's own SMB stack is such shit. It really is a crap shoot. 10.5 ended on a broken SMB stack. Other versions work better than others. If you run into one that works, I'd be afraid to update it because you can't really depend on Apple to fix it if they fuck it up. It is obviously a low priority for them. You can't really settle on a particular version of OSX, like 10.5 for example. You just won't get any support. -- Marek Novotny https://github.com/marek-novotny
