A few choice gems as of late, by the 'IT Master' himself... we should all follow his lead... "Those of you who troll are not limited to Usenet. Not by a LARGE stretch." - Snit Message-ID: <fjvl2gF4ku5U2@mid.individual.net> "You are in one of those groups and like to see yourself as better than others. Fair enough... but why make this about you and your ego?" - Snit Message-ID: <fk3rnoF2ptaU1@mid.individual.net> "If you decide to engage in a real conversation that would be great!" - Snit Message-ID: <fk466fF569vU2@mid.individual.net> "A real conversation is one where you do not play word games and be pedantic and seek to show understanding." - Snit Message-ID: <fk4bgaF6cgaU2@mid.individual.net> "A shame you feel the need to run every single time. So be it." - Snit Message-ID: <fk4gt4F7guqU1@mid.individual.net> "Use what you like... but it is curious that you show such insecurity." - Snit Message-ID: <fk4gu1F7guqU2@mid.individual.net> "Listen: I gave you another chance. You decided to push semantic nonsense and move goal posts." - Snit Message-ID: <fk4h2hF7guqU3@mid.individual.net> "By the way: I asked if you would show some of your actual work. You dodged." - Snit Message-ID: <fk6gseFl0dvU1@mid.individual.net> (Fact: I did show Snit some actual work that was even pertinent to a point I'd just made) "There is more to the world than me. Get a life." - Snit Message-ID: <fk6nvaFmmr6U2@mid.individual.net> "And you are back to pretending to be my spokesperson and making things up as you avoid speaking of tech." - Snit Message-ID: <fk6o1cFmmr6U3@mid.individual.net> "Did someone suggest *most* people need this? That even 30% of users seek to do this" - Snit Message-ID: <fk4pl8F9707U1@mid.individual.net> When asked to back an allegation he'd made, Snit refused, repeatedly, here's one: "Again: not digging back through threads for something you know to be true and are just playing games with." - Snit Message-ID: <fk6gvjFl0dvU3@mid.individual.net> "They, like you, know they cannot defend their views so they attack the person they feel has bested them. It is sign of mental weakness and insecurity from those of you who do so." - Snit Message-ID: <fk6oapFmmr6U6@mid.individual.net> "I keep hoping there will be advocacy... or at least a focus on tech. For a while, Owl, I helped you to get there. Wish you and others would go there without prodding." - Snit Message-ID: <fk6ut1Fo9q5U1@mid.individual.net>

You know about it well. At least your ways... This is where Linux has -- or should have -- a HUGE advantage. I would accept any distro and any modifications to it as being "fair". Of course, if it only works in some obscure distro with bizarre settings that limits in in terms of being a general desktop, but the nature of Linux distros is if it works one one it likely works on others (though maybe not on other DEs). An example of this would be something simple like window snapping. I have appreciated that simple small thing found on GNOME and related DEs (and some others) for years. It is something small that makes a difference, and I was *very* happy when it came to my more commonly used competitor. By using Linux, though, I understood better what I was missing. In other cases it might be a workflow that some Linux DE and the apps that run on the system make more streamlined. An example of this, from a competing system, might be PDF / image annotation. Here is an example of how I handle this on another system: <https://youtu.be/NPM_WldEBs0> It is *not* that such work cannot be done on Linux. It absolutely can (save as PDF or whatever image type, open in another program, add annotations, save again, email), but I really like how this is streamlined on macOS and use it often for online receipts, recipes, etc. Others have looked at bigger tasks... Owl, for example, wanted (for whatever reason) to download all the recipes off the home page of allrecipes.com. Seems an odd thing to want to do, to me, but whatever... I can see it being a special case in a general case of wanting to download all cookie recipes, all art projects from some site, all lesson plans, all role playing adventures, etc. He and I each came up with a number of solutions. Here is one of mine: <https://youtu.be/_J4PppWroWY> Mine not only worked, but the PDF had selectable text and allowed me to do quick searches on ingredients and the like... something Owl was never able to do on Linux (to be fair that was not a part of his original requirements, it seems like a very reasonable thing a user might want). -- Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. For the tasks I am talking about there is no need for anything high end. Not sure, but I think Evince, Okular, Foxit, and others would work reasonably well. We can nit pick how nice the text bubbles look, or whatever, and there may be places where things like that matter, but for the basics of putting some notes on a recipe or lesson plan or whatever I think any would work reasonably well. I want to be clear I am *NOT* suggesting such work would be impossible or even particularly hard on Linux... but to use the language of Linux users, macOS has more choices of workflow. :) More than that, though, it has more streamlined ones. -- Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. He is as incompetent as Staci 'Super Troll' Elliot. For others I would merely say the comment is questionable. Of course, given that it's Staci 'Super Troll' Elliot I would drop that step and go straight to 'ego-trip' because that's most of what he does. Innocent until proven guilty does not apply to Staci 'Super Troll' Elliot. Staci 'Super Troll' Elliot doesn't have any idea what he is crying about. Too much glue for you, Gluey. Crick and Planck had their shortfalls and their awkward moments. One presented it dishonestly and didn't do anything too outrageous that could not be presented as stage magic. I've worked for the OEM PC business for nearly 10 years. I've worked with multibillion dollar OEMs working with the military and police forces. Never, not even once, were we at any point instructed not to pre-install any version of Linux. We sold AIX, SCO, System V, and so forth as well as Windows on our hardware. -- "You'll notice how quickly he loses interest when everything is about him. He clearly wants the attention" Steven Petruzzellis, making the dumbest comment ever uttered.

That's a disorganized workflow if you ask me.

You load an email client, then attach, then annotate the attachment. It's like starting your car, then having to go back into the house because you forgot something.

So, he only is familiar with and agrees to the government claims which also are the ones which portray humanism in a highly kind and brave way. Vennie Bowden pwns Staci Elliot in every way possible. You've proven nothing. Vennie Bowden created at least 20 virtual systems in the last year or so. Let us all have a moment of silence as we honor his accomplishments! You used it and deleted competing systems and your "diagnostic abilities" lead you to that assumption, proving what? How is existing brain matter tied to love of Staci Elliot in any way going to lead to intelligent usenet posting? They suggest asking for a price comparison for an open source application is trolling. -- Best CMS Solution of 2017 https://youtu.be/OffkiSAsYo8 Jonas Eklundh

What steps would you take to, say, send a recipe or craft project you see on a webpage as a PDF, adding notes? For Linux I suggested: 1) Save as PDF 2) Open in an annotation program and edit 3) Save again 4) Open email program 5) Attach If the annotation program has an email option that can be streamlined

Why? If you can annotate before and in the email client, that's a positive, not a negative, even if you choose to never use it. I've never use Mail's MarkUp feature but I can see how it'd be handy if you only then decide to annotate something.

It's a positive as far as the *capability* to do it is concerned, but as a "workflow" it is not the most efficient or logical. It also is completely out of the ordinary for a recipe that you have used, modified, and are sharing, along with your recommended modifications: such a recipe you would already have on hand, including your personal modification notes, and so it would be just a matter of emailing a PDF (or whatever) that you had already edited.

The point is, as a workflow, you don't *have* to use it. Anything that enables flexibility in a workflow creates an environment that raises the potential for a better workflow (that's one of the reasons you like the CLI). > It also is completely out of the ordinary for a recipe that you have used, > modified, and are sharing, along with your recommended modifications: > such a recipe you would already have on hand, including your personal > modification notes, and so it would be just a matter of emailing a PDF > (or whatever) that you had already edited. And you can do that... but for the times when you want to add a last minute annotation the flexibility to do so expands the workflow. If that flow was reliant on an apparently 'out of step' procedure that'd be one thing... but this isn't reliant, it's just there if you need it.
