The worst part about that is the fact that Office 2003 is _still_
supported by Microsoft twelve years later and works without any kind of
issues in Windows 10.

Office 2003 also runs flawlessly - and extremely speedily - on WinServer 
2012 R2.

It's a trial version, so I'm just checking it out, installing SQL 
Server, various server roles and features, etc.

Plus it looks like 8.1 (it basically is), which I like better than Win10.

Office 2003 is end of life and is not supported. It certainly won't work 
with any of Microsoft's current cloud offerings.

It should work with OneDrive to save and fetch files if you've synced 
OneDrive to the computer.  And I would think it would work if you went to 
OneDrive and selected a file to open too.  I can't think of any reason 
that wouldn't work.

Something more esoteric might not of course.

I think he's talking about the quickstarter feature? Basically it loads 
LibreOffice when your OS starts. I've not tried it but seems to me it's 
still got to load somewhere so it slows down your initial startup and/or 
uses memory that you might need for other things. All this to save a few 
seconds while your Wordprocessor starts.

The 1 second file opening I think is just wishful thinking, I couldn't 
find any real posts or news about that "feature"

    I think the whole point the OP was making is that this stuff isn't
anywhere else yet. That includes other Unixen like AIX. Not even sure
that you could fit AIX with a GPU number cruncher and have it supported.
