Of course he is obsessing over weaknesses, real AND imagined. And of

Lines of text containing quotes you somehow recognize but can not place. From how Prescott Computer Guy posted - by asking for basics of the operating system and so forth - he has certainly not figured out a graphically complex problem in his life. If he had he'd have understood the requirements such as knowing what are local and global variables! Despite all the crowing Prescott Computer Guy has done on this topic, the 'Professional Developer' does not understand how to do this. It seriously takes a couple seconds to select a paragraph and 'Google' it. Sadly there are too many "slow is good enough" false "advocates" and not enough old school users with the skills to help the people with old computers.

"You are never up to anything good" said Prescott Computer Guy's girlfriend.

Everyone is Prescott Computer Guy -- the oldest gag in the book.

You can say I am Madonna for all I care.

And you do, of course realize that it isn't impossible for Prescott Computer Guy to be doing this, or to have his uploaded consciousness doing it for him.

The HELL you don't.

* "The only way Windows 10 could be faster than Ubuntu is if the
benchmark in question is skewed for Windows."

* "I don't care about Windows. I want to talk about Linux."

2 lies

June 14 2017 you lied: "I said Linux computers sold for same price, not
that they were more expensive."

But that's NOT what you said the day before (which was also a lie): "In
the U.S. you have to special order non-Windows computers and they
usually cost more than the ones that include Windows."

4 lies

You told at least 6 lies on June 15 2017 alone:

1) "MS Office has always been bloatware."

2,3) "It's a shame that you can't readily buy computers without an OS at
a reasonable price, but it's the reality of the situation in the United
States. To pretend otherwise is to delude yourself."

4) "Most people "install" Windows by buying a new computer."

5) "Installing Windows from scratch is much, much more labor intensive
than installing Linux.

6) "And the Windows install takes a hundred reboots and forever to
upgrade. (I exaggerate only slightly.)"

10 lies

* "Yeah, it's hard for the trolls to obsess 24/7 over Linux and then
claim it doesn't matter to them."

Liar. No 'troll' ever claimed that.

11 lies

* "It seems like EVERY SINGLE TIME someone "partners with" Microsoft,
they end up killing their business." Idiotic lie.

That's 12 lies

wRonG, the double-digit liar: "I don't lie."

So proper maintenance of a Windows machine requires expert knowledge

Exactly. And almost all the "fixes" suggested for repairing the error on my
wife's desktop required the CLI (terminal). Meanwhile, whenever we mention
an easy to use command from the terminal, the WinTrolls yammer on like rabid
coyotes about how Linux requires the use of the CLI. What hypocrites.

You rarely have to use the terminal on Windows or macOS, but that does
not imply never. Even on Linux it is not that often for common things.

You call that "normal" out of ignorance... tied to your cult-like group.

Here are the Mint update instructions:

<https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2>
-----
A "Fresh" upgrade consists of the following steps:

1. Making a backup of the data
2. Making a backup of the software selection
3. Performing a fresh installation using the liveDVD of the new release
4. Restoring the data
5. Restoring the software selection

This is the recommended way to upgrade Linux Mint and it offers the
following advantages:

1. Safe: Your data is backed up externally. Whatever mistake you make or
whatever bug happens during the installation cannot affect it.
2. Fast: The installation usually lasts 15 minutes. The DVD for the new
release contains compressed data. Downloading the ISO and upgrading from
the DVD is much faster than upgrading the system from the repositories.
3. Reliable: First, you get the opportunity to test your hardware
detection in the new release using the liveDVD. If anything is wrong you
can simply decide not to upgrade, it's not too late. Second, you end up
with a fresh installation of Linux Mint, i.e. a system that was fully
tested by the development team and the community.
4. Easy: Things do go as planned this way.
-----

That is directly from the Mint site. This is not some other site
claiming it, nor me claiming one should do this with Mint... this is the
MINT SITE making this claim.

So, do you want to keep pushing your fantasy that Mint is so much better
than the competition here?

...

It's obvious he is trying to convince himself that Linux is a better
alternative and at the same time he refuses to sit down and actually
compare a MODERN VERSION of Windows with his Linux.

He knows Windows destroys Linux for a typical, average, non programmer
person, simply by choice of applications but he will never admit it. That's
why his dander gets fired up when people show him how poorly Linux does for
his application and how great Windows is in comparison.
So to compensate he makes up these long winded stories, without proof,
about Windows.

It does come across as him trying to justify his decisions to HIMSELF.
He can, of course, use what he likes -- for good reasons or bad -- but
he is clearly insecure about his choice. Maybe this is tied to the whole
"Paradox of Choice" idea where no matter what choice he makes he second
guesses himself.

What he seems to not understand is one does not have to pick one OR the
other. I use Linux. I use macOS. I use Windows (though less than I used
to). He can use them all (or whatever combo he wants) and not be bitter
and angry about other choices.

I would love to see him prove you wrong and show examples of tasks he
does with Linux where he thinks it serves him better. Than others can
share how THEY get similar tasks done, on Linux or the competition, and
we can ALL learn from each other. No need to put each other down.

But he will not. This is 100% predictable.

It certainly seems that way.

I have a program I use as well, but it's something you would not understand.

Larry 'The Fool' Washington is commonly seen insisting "THERE IS NO" when it comes to data on the Internet where information is easy to find... but Larry 'The Fool' Washington is just too dense and lost to grasp any instruction he finds. Yup. Clearly this is what we have to deal with. Cretins who clearly have no reason for being here other than to antagonize others. Larry 'The Fool' Washington has toned down the zillions of self obsessed, bullshit attacks he used to knock off but he's certainly not much different in the truthfulness area. He just uses socks more now to create those attacks.

Larry 'The Fool' Washington claims to be the Linux-professor. Let's see him put up a version but lacking the sorting constructs. His goal is to see Steve Carroll chased away by idiotic lying. And hey, that could kill this group.

Do not get too arrogant, Larry 'The Fool' Washington, sometimes "your shills" are just that. All joking aside, what lie?

It's obvious that Linux is vastly superior to Windows. And, since you think
these instructions for a version upgrade from Linux Mint 12 to Linux Mint 13
(8 years ago) has anything to do with a standard update — what's really
obvious is that you're "obviously" clueless about all things Linux. Just
another lying, clueless troll. What a surprise. (I guess the two "Hadron"

Sure it does. Because having to worry that Wincrap will screw the pooch
EVERY TIME it updates is so much better than a stable OS (like Linux Mint)
that has multiple upgrades weekly and has never killed itself on my
machines.

(You might want to wear a wig for "Snit." I think he likes that.)

Really?
You sure aren't presenting proof of that claim.
I'd love to see you show some tasks where Linux is better than Windows or
OSX for an average, typical, non-programmer user.
But you won't and that is because you can't.
You know it.
I know it.
Everyone knows it.

This forum is a septic tank.

Generally, I would not call a post like Klaus Schadenfreude's posts a fabrication until you invalidate it (as you are here) and he responds with the nothing but repetition without offering any evidence.

Regardless of my reasoned dislike of openSUSE, I still continue to install it for people who have had difficulties with macOS. If Klaus Schadenfreude calls being busted left and right by everyone effective 'trolling', then whatever... he is a good troll. I don't personally accept that definition, I use another term. I call that person a complete doofus.

My updated a copy of Windows 10 runs great.

There's no shame in being a poor, "do it yourself" Linux lover.
Nor is there shame in being a rich, snobby Apple user.
Some people think a $1000 bottle of wine tastes better, others don't.
