But everyone is entitled to their opinion, I guess. As for the watch bit, that was *my* fault and I wish I hadn't put that watch in the pic because it wasn't really my intention to provoke a dick measuring contest. But everyone is entitled to their opinion, I guess. It wouldn't have been bothered with, had it not been for the constant refrains of how nothing is ever about personal economics, but is always about the "Greed" of Bill Gates, etc: their self-volunteered materialism was simply held back up to them to illustrate how despite the denials, there really is a huge 'cost' component behind their motivations. > As for the watch bit, that was *my* fault and I wish I hadn't put that watch in > the pic because it wasn't really my intention to provoke a dick measuring contest. > It was just sitting there with the other watches and I thoughtlessly put it in. My bad. No worries there - I pointed it out the 'measuring' so that people could see how things went if it really was intended to be that or not (and it wasn't). Of course, how that conversation went (including its civility) is probably also now sticking in the craw of the usual suspects if for no other reason than it wasn't. > OK, you guys can go back in the ring now ;) Well, I'll just then point out how Scott has suggested jealousy of a watch whose brand was never even bothered to be mentioned ;-) -hh

Sorry RonB, but I've also listed other apps besides just iPhoto/Lightroom, and none of the self-proclaimed Linx "advocates" have provided any material solutions. Another specific 'case study' example for Joe Sixpack is iTunes, which is hardly a niche "5%" application considering that the mainstream uses it exclusively for Apple's iOS devices, of which Apple has sold over a Billion (with a "B") of (~375M/200+M/700+M = ~1.3B) > ...and then claims that Linux is useless ... Reading comprehension bias & fail: the challenge all along has been to successfully show specific good products that illustrate that Linux _isn't_ useless. I've merely pointed out how you "advocates" have consistently failed, even for straightforward use cases for the mainstream "Joe Sixpack" user base. -hh

Not necessarily the same programs. Exactly, and they've been explicitly told this before. Case in point: <https://groups.google.com/forum/message/raw?msg=comp.os.linux.advocacy/Q0056tohwr0/efGUXH_8XKoJ> "...claims there's a plethora of wonderful Linux apps for mere mortals and Joe Sixpacks, but when I've asked for specifics on just what these alternatives are - particuarly vetted by a real and unbiased product review for these Linux equivalent to the provided case study examples..." ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ YMMV on why chrisv & RonB both got it so clearly wrong; it could have been an innocent error, it could have been poor reading comprehension (eg, they're stupid), or it could have been purposeful (eg, they're liars). Now since it did happen, there must have been causality: simply 'choose their poison' from the above list of all possible reasons. -hh

I don't have to prove your claims are wrong, imbecile; you have to prove
they're right. And you cannot.
And you'll now twist and run and hide - just like Snit.
