At times, fiction is more valuable than truth.

What were you doing? Real discussion will not be seen once those of us here before the eternal September are outnumbered. That, and there will always be a snit thrower or two in an open ng. The current crap aside, we have all seen who frequently gets angry when he doesn't get nonstop attention.

It's like a poorly written flyer. chrisv has already decided what he is going to say before he calls. What you say is irrelevant. What Snit Glasser says is ignored. chrisv is the repercussion of the truth that Democrats have been hired to subvert teaching our youth. It is not serendipity that he is a brainless communist. What is your evidence?

Sorry, but when the truth has already done so well at defeating you,
there simply is no logical reason to even consider lying.

I didn't see the need to bother to reply to every single post.
But the actual material has already been addressed.

Case in point:

And a reminder: we're still waiting for you to provide the
substantiating citation for the exact phrase that you quoted.

And Readers - - I recommend that we graciously grant chrisv a bit
more time for him to produce the quotation; 24 hours should do it.

I have challenged Linux "advocates" for years to show workflows done
better on desktop Linux. There are some... many tied to the CLI. But for
most users who stick to the GUI they struggle to come up with anything.
I had a list of the very few items they did have... and with most of
those the competition has at least worked to catch up (such as
repositories, now Windows and macOS have their own "stores" which work
much the same... though we can compare to see if they have TRULY caught up).
...

One of the things that keeps me from using Linux as my primary desktop
OS is the *lack* of choice. To me choice is not just about a count of
how many settings or DEs I can swap in and out, but about if there are
efficient ways to get tasks done.

A computer is a tool designed to get tasks done... what matters to me is
how well it does that. And, of course, choice in computer will depend on
what tasks you want to get done, and what hardware you have, etc.

You are so far off base that you've left the ballpark.

You have missed the target by a few parsecs.

What is a computer? A computer is a GENERAL PURPOSE MACNHINE
which means that a computer cannot do anything unless instructed,
through programming, by the user. (Not that the point "by the
user" is to be strongly emphasized.)

The question therefore becomes: which OS best supports the ability
of the user to program and control his machine?

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! The answer is GNU/Linux and only GNU/Linux.

GNU/Linux allows the user to take full control over each and
every aspect of his machine. Yes: HIS MACHINE.

Microshit Winblows disallows user control. Microshit Winblows
even disallows user ownership of his own machine. This is
an OUTRAGE that only fools would accept.

GNU/Linux is the only OS that can accurately be called an OS.

No counter argument is possible.

The case is closed.

There's some truth in what you say, but don't forget all the things
you can do with Windows:

But Windows allows others to take full control of your machine! 8)

Let me know when Excel can handle that "niche."

-highhorse is himself a niche. Does he have any github projects?
Perhaps he should STFU.

By the way, Owl, I really respect your work with sc and other
technical topics. Keep it up! You're better than me at that!

For every coder, there’s tens of thousands of customers using that work
product, niche boy. And if there isn’t at least thousands of customers, then
you & your product has probably failed miserably in the marketplace. And no,
I’m not talking about how many other coders snagged your github freeware
for their own product development use.

>Perhaps he should STFU.

Perhaps you should have remembered that I have worked as a programmer.
At a Fortune 500 company, no less. But these days, the people who work for me
are who write the tech specs that eventually trickle down to the programmers.

According to some lying asshole, anyway. But the fact is that
remaining a viable product is prima facia proof that a product is
successful.

Not that I'm aware of ...

I thought you had said something to that effect.

Even if that were true, I don't see how it would apply in this case.
