Well, did you see what he concluded from my saying that Relf's "Testing is how you know if the code works or not, not compile-time warnings" statement was "stupid"? Do I get credit for knowing-enough about programming to know what was wrong with Relf's statement? No, by Kreep's logic, my very reasonable, and correct, opinion showed "ignorance". *boggle* Indeed, by Kreep's logic, it showed that I think that a clean compile is all that's needed to determine if a program works or not, and that there is no need to actually test the software! *boggle* *boggle* *boggle* I mean, you couldn't make this stuff up! It's not news that Kreep lies without shame, but that is "Snit" level dishonesty!

I remember when I demonstrated some point by showing some disassembler
output, and "Hadron" claimed it was "naive". LOL

I have a formidable background in machine code/assembler and so can
explain how pointers work in a manner which might make it clearer to you
since you are clearly confused.

DVD playback is admittedly becoming less and less important with time. Blu-Ray playback, nevertheless, remains very important. In this area, Linux fails miserably. There is a way of getting it to work by streaming the content through MakeMKV, but it's not intuitive in any way. -- Slimer OpenMedia, GreenPeace Supporter & SPCA Paw Partner Encrypt.

"Do you know *why* you want to program?" He shakes his head. He hasn't the faintest idea. "For the sheer *joy* of programming!" she cries triumphantly. "The joy of the parent, the artist, the craftsman. "You take a program, born weak and impotent as a dimly-realized solution. You nurture the program and guide it down the right path, building, watching it grow ever stronger. Sometimes you paint with tiny strokes, a keystroke added here, a keystroke changed there." She sweeps her arm in a wide arc. "And other times you savage whole *blocks* of code, ripping out the program's very *essence*, then beginning anew. But always building, creating, filling the program with your own personal stamp, your own quirks and nuances. Watching the program grow stronger, patching it when it crashes, until finally it can stand alone -- proud, powerful, and perfect. This is the programmer's finest hour!" Softly at first, then louder, he hears the strains of a Sousa march. "This ... this is your canvas! your clay! Go forth and create a masterwork!"

I don't use a Mac for a variety of reasons and absolutely detest the culture surrounding its products. It is indeed a one-time set-up, you've got a point. However, how is this better than me just putting a disc into my drive and watching the software pop up to let me play the title in question? The blu-ray read write saves on dvds during a backup. I think I'll just get an external usb drive to do that from now on.

There's nobody in "Linux" to pay those fees, so you have to jump through hoops to access the content *you* bought. -- It's is not, it isn't ain't, and it's it's, not its, if you mean it is. It's worse than that. BluRay support requires the OS vendor to
agree to some pretty eggregious meddling. The OS vendor basically
needs to consent to having their product hijacked by the relevant
DRM governing body. This is all to "prevent piracy".
The same goes for cable card too.
