HP is selling a Slate 21-k1000 All In One Touchscreen Desktop, and it's
number 9 in Desktop sales at Amazon ...

The top 10 ...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics/565098/ref=sr_bs_1

More detail about the Slate 21 ...

http://snipurl.com/28w2w9b

Well, well, well ... But don't worry about it WinDrones and iCultists.

Comments from users ...

"Beautiful touch screen. Fast performance. Video chat. Nice keyboard and
mouse. Millions of applications, movies and songs via Google Play Store.
Boxed up the old windows computer. Absolutely love it."

(Boxed up the old windows computer ... hmmm ...)

~~

"I highly recommend this product for family use. For $399 you are getting
a 21" Android tablet. I'm not a tech expert so I'm not going to detail the
specs, but my whole family now flocks to this device. It's an amazing
product. I wish HP can market this more to the mainstream crowd."

~~

"Simply Fabulous. I have been dreaming of an Android Desktop and here it
is. For $399 we get a 21.5 1080p Monitor, Touch Screen, Camera, Keyboard
(love the shortcut keys) and a Mouse - just unbelievable.

"As an Android programmer, I am thrilled to use this as a testing system
as well.

"Thank you HP, Google & Amazon - a viable alternative to the Virus Machine
(aka Windows)."

~~

"It's not considered a tablet but put a pillow under it and you can sit in
front of the TV and surf the web. The Tegra 4 processor is incredibly fast
and the full HD display looks great. What a great concept for surfing,
email, and Facebook. Gaming is incredible on a 21" screen."

~~

That darn Linux just keeps showing up everywhere ... looks like the
Malware Magnet OS company from Redmond is losing its hold on their old
OEMS. More choice on the way and ... you know ... choice is good. Linux is
the good choice.

Worry about what? There's nothing there. Only an idiot (you) would
equate the cheapest device being at #1 as somehow outselling WIndows and
Apple device which take up the next 8 places,

Were you dropped on your head as a kid?

It's called choice wRonG.

"flock to this device". LOL. I smell a turd. Blazingly fast too
perchance? LOL.

Dreaming of an Android desktop? Yuck. Single activity UI? No thanks.

Yup... because you really want a full desktop to plug into your linux or
windows development machine to run your app - you'll really be
targetting 21" devices....

"Virus machine" ? There are MORE viruses currently on Android than on
Windows! Surely you knew that wRonG???!?!

Great concept for surfing?!?!? WTF? Has this guy just been let out of
prison?

What games? LOL. Fanboi nonsense.

You really are a twit.

FWIW, Android 4.4 on a nexus 7 is awesome. But there is no way in hell
I'd want a 21" android tablet. Far more choice and flexibility in
feeding the output form a smaller device into the hdmi of the TV if I
want big screen video from the tablet. I feed the hdmi out from my
laptop running debian to the TV for streaming movies. Works great. As
for games? Only an idiot would pick android for gaming over an xbox or
ps3/4.

Cheaper sells more. Well, other than desktop Linux which is free and cannot
be given away.

RonB is too busy talking to his imaginary friends to think these things
through.

No matter how much you screech it, Android is the LInux who dares not
speak the name of its roots! And considering that all Android uses is
a heavily modified kernel, they could have just as well picked any
other *nix kernel.

Way more references for Linux and Android than any of the other common OSs
and their kernels.

For how long is this idiocy going to the touted by the anti-Linux horde?

Android *never* used a "heavily modified [Linux] kernel" and today Android
runs on a main line Linux.

Yes, they could. They could have chosen a kernel like on of the BSDs that
even has a less restrictive license. Google is not much of a fan of GPL so a
BSD license would have been a big plus. Yet, they choose Linux and that
really bothers the anti-Linux horde.

Nothing anti-Linux to note how Android is not marketed with Linux as a
focus. OS X and iOS are also not marketed with a focus on Darwin or XNU. Why
would they be?

Who do you think it bothers? Is this "anti-Linux horde" the same group as
RonB's imaginary friends?

But for all of that if you were to tell the vast majority of Android
users that they are using Linux, you'd get a questioning look and then
"what's Linux"! :)

Ask them what "the Registry" is. Ask them what a "virtual machine" is.

The people in comp.os.registry.advocacy are very much bothered by the lack
of knowledge of the registry! :)

Is there an advocacy group for the Registry? If so, they might be bothered
at the apathy about it.

And who cares. Linux is a kernel, not a brand and that's something these
WinDrones and iCultists will never get through their thick skulls. Even if
no one knew Android and Chrome OS were based on Linux (which, of course,
is an exaggeration), what difference does it make? -- it doesn't make it
any less Linux.

Let's keep moving those goalposts, "Lloyd."

I've had Windows users tell me their system ran "Dell" or "Lenovo" because
they don't know the difference between a brand and an operating system.

I've heard those as well.
These same people will never switch to Linux or even upgrade their
Windows systems to a new version of Windows.
And there are a lot of them.
