Yep.
He likes to make claims and then when people ask him to substantiate
those claims, he moves the goal posts and tries to turn the thread
back upon the person asking for his proof.

Example:

White Spurt: "My house can fly"

Other person: "Do you have any pictures or videos of your house
flying?"

White Spurt: "You have been trolling COLA for 18 years"....

And so it goes.

No need to make up a claim for him... use his own words:

  White Spirit:
    -----
If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would
put Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.
    -----

Turns out he lied... he cannot show where my list is "contrived", and he has
backed off his claim about OS X and made up a new one saying it simply
crashes a lot, which is silly. OS X, Windows, and Linux all very rarely
crash.

Idiot. Notwithstanding the fact that crashes are impossible to record
using the computer for obvious reasons, their spontaneous nature makes
recording them using another medium extremely difficult. Even if I took
a photo every time it happened using my telephone, you'd just say it's
the same crash in each photo.

So you are backing down *heavily* from your claim:

  White Spirit:
    -----
If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would
put Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.
    -----

But now you are admitting your "list" comes down to you claiming Mavericks
crashes... which is absurd and unsupported. Windows, Linux, and OS X all
rarely crash these days. With that said, OS X 10.9.0 did have applications
crash more than it should have - likely tied to the new way memory was
handled (I do not know). That has been resolved since 10.9.1 (or maybe
10.9.2). In any case, it is not an issue any longer (which is not to say
Apple deserves to be chided for allowing it to happen in the first place).

You also claim my claims are "contrived" as if you do not believe in them.
Utter nonsense on your part.

C'mon, dude... you know full well he clearly said to document "bugs/issues", (it's still right in your reply), not crashes. Leave this kind of BS to people like Snit.

I know you have an Apple logo tattooed on your ass, Snit, but when a system is crashing it is an issue and a bug. You are claiming Macs are designed to crash.

No. He's saying that you're a liar. And so am I. And DFS.

If not produce proof of your bullshit claim with videos like Snit does.

Well, Carroll is also saying that "crashes" are not in the category of
"bugs/issues" which is just insane. But, sure, this is a side issue and the
main one is White Spirit's out and out lie:

  White Spirit:
    -----
If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would
put Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.
    -----

He simply lied and is now backpedalling and claiming his "list" is *one*
item which he cannot even show any support for.

I'm saying that it's possible to record "bugs/issues" that don't necessarily crash anything... which is obviously what he was saying, as evidenced by the fact that he pointed to Snit doing it.

Bugs that crash the system by default put to shame a contrived list of
'bugs' that a snitpicker would construct - which brings us full circle.

Thanks for playing, everyone.

I run OSX myself... never had a crash on Mavericks. Seems to me an OS crashing bug would have to be driver related, which is obviously not the topic here... unless you want to claim the Linux never crashes due to that (but I don't expect to see it).

Since the upgrade to Mavericks, it has crashed a lot - particularly when
putting the laptop to sleep. That gets annoying as being able to
continue exactly where I left off saves a lot of time.

I was also amazed how many applications were removed due to the upgrade
to Mavericks such as Java. A number of configuration files were also
completely overwritten, such as the httpd config file. OpenSUSE handles
upgrades much better in my experience...

If there was a serious OSX bug that crashed it "a lot" there would be massive reporting of it.

What model do you have and what is your system comprised of in the way of hardware/software that might cause the instability?

I'd be annoyed, too.

It depends how widespread the occurrence of it is.

MacBook Air.

With regard to software, I don't expect software to crash an OS; if that
happens, the OS isn't doing its job properly.

Ah, so it might be crashing "a lot" but there is no widespread occurences of
it crashing.

LOL!

If you are not just making things up, which you almost surely are, the
problem is likely from bad RAM or the like. Nothing to do with the OS or the
norm of the systems. But let us keep in mind that even if it was (which,
remember, it is not) you have still backed off from your initial claim:

  White Spirit:

If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would
put Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.
    -----

Your list is "it has crashed a lot"... an unsupported claim that is not even
a list and for which not even you claim is widespread!

In other words: you lied and were busted.

One: No evidence your system is crashing. Ever.

Two: If it is no reason to think it is the fault of the OS... it is likely
RAM or other hardware if even true.

Three: let us not forget this is you moving goal posts from your initial
claim of a list of problems.

Four: You already admitted you post just to troll... and it is clear this is
what you are doing here.

Bottom line: you lied to get attention. You got it. Yipee. But let us not
pretend you are not just lying to get attention.

I doubt GNU/Linux upgrades are much smoother than the OS X ones but I
have to admit that the upgrade didn't improve the experience on my
mother's Mac. Her Core i5 with 4GB of RAM simply seems very slow on the
latest version of OS X. How a machine as powerful as an i5 can be so
sluggish with an operating system which hasn't changed so significantly
since 2000 is beyond me. However, OS X never won records for speed anyway.

Hm I have iMac from 2008 and 8GB of ram. Doesn't feel slow with
Maverics. Perhaps add another 4GB of ram and it will be fast?

I used to run OS X on 128MB (it was unbearable but that's how much Apple
offered with their iBooks), then 640MB and finally 1GB. I have a lot of
trouble believing that having four times more RAM wouldn't improve the
experience even slightly from 2005. It's ridiculous that it would
swallow so much RAM and offers incremental and barely noticeable speed
increases.
