No, no, no, no, no!

Haven't I made this clear? The techtv links contain only javascript.
There are no links. The links are created dynamically and I need to
extract the links without loading the page into a browser.

Is this possible? If so then how is it done?

What are you talking about?

If you want to download the vids, extract the YouTube link from the list
I gave and paste it into an online video grabber (or use wget).

Go back to my first post and read it again. Then read it again
five more fucking times. Then sit back and think carefully about
the meaning of what you have read. Then maybe, maybe, the meaning
will become clear.

You are providing Mickey Mouse solutions but this is far from
a Mickey Mouse problem.

1st sentence: "I need to obtain the links for the videos listed on this
page: http://web.mit.edu/hml/ncfmf.html"

And that's exactly what I gave you: each TechTV link, each YT link, and
each Film Notes link.

So now what's your problem?

OMFG! Download the TechTV link (not with a browser) and find out.

Each TechTV link contains only javascript that will produce a link
to video material. The problem is extracting this link with a script.

You can't satisfy Fabian Russell. Not philosophically, intellectually or
sexually. Only Wretched Stallman can satisfy him across the board.

I made a quick Safari Service to make this even easier for me:

-----
tell application "Safari"
   set theVideo to URL of current tab of window 1
   set theURL to "https://y2mate.com/youtube/"
   set videoStart to (offset of "v=" in theVideo) + 2
   set theVideo to characters videoStart thru -1 of theVideo as string
   set videoEnd to (offset of "&" in theVideo) - 1
   set theVideo to characters 1 thru videoEnd of theVideo as string
   set theVideo to theURL & theVideo
   open location theVideo
end tell
-----

Sure there were better ways to handle the text manipulation but that
works. I am using y2mate there, but would work for most services.

Ironically when I went to test your service I opened YouTube and was
told my old video on how to download YouTube videos went against their
terms of service. Have a three month hand-slap. In retrospect I can see
where they would not want that. :)

Hu? Then let the JS render the page and grep out the links. What am I missing?

The Underground Marshmallow Person doesn't know if there is a free open source program to handle such tasks. What did you expect from the lying imbecile? That The Underground Marshmallow Person lamer has nothing to blow but time. He has nothing else. Especially not a girlfriend.

So The Underground Marshmallow Person changed his story to responding to him.

No-one gets it, I am the one who figured it out.

The links Feeb is looking for (the non-YT ones) aren't present on the page he
provided a link for. To get what he wants you'd have to go to each TechTV link,
look in a piece of script to grab a "videoKey" and "cloudfront_base_url" ...

<script type="
text / javascript ">
var SETTINGS = {
    "gaTrackingID": "UA-5145472-27",
    "environment": "production-apps",
    "sentry_dsn": "//f75d3b6abb8f4a30b95769f8f9644ee3@sentry.io/194353",
    "release_version": "0.32.0",
    "public_path": "/static/bundles/",
    "cloudfront_base_url": "https://d3tsb3m56iwvoq.cloudfront.net/",
    "user": null,
    "email": null,
    "support_email_address": "MIT ODL Video <odl-video-support@mit.edu>",
    "ga_dimension_camera": "dimension1",
    "FEATURES": {
        "ENABLE_VIDEO_PERMISSIONS": false
    },
    "videoKey": "84e772e6f7c34a2db30e785f785b47b5",
    "editable": false,
    "dropbox_key": "h87e1lzx5l57q1k"
}; <
/script>

... and to them you'd add 2 directories, "/transcoded/techtv/", to come up
with a URL like owl demonstrated earlier... example:

https://d3tsb3m56iwvoq.cloudfront.net/transcoded/techtv/7949d5ee590f4cc8b60216461d5e8a6f/hd.mp4

IOW, Feeb has joined Snit and chrisv in being unable to write what they mean
... and you (the reader) are at fault for not being able to pick up on it.

The best part here, though, is Feeb's hatred of javash*t, which he blames
for the entire mess. Forget that it makes it easier to create a system which
lets places like MIT automate their web processes so one needn't be a web
developer just to enter videos into the system. That it's harder for Feeb, the
guy who keeps talking about "progress", to get for free, content they are
trying to sell, is the only criteria here <eyeroll>.

"All rights to the NCFMF films are still owned by the Educational Development
Center. Although they have been made available as streaming media by special
arrangment by the iFluids program, the films cannot be downloaded. They are,
however, available for purchase from the Encyclopedia Britannica store. (You
must contact Britannica directly for information.)"

<http://web.mit.edu/hml/ncfmf/addinfo.html>

Apparently, they can, if you can figure out where they're located.

His goal is to see Steven Petruzzellis bothered by having me get blamed for his actions. And hey, that could happen. Proof Sandman accuses everyone of being Snit http://sandman.net/files/snit_circus.png. I know we have two different beliefs entirely.

But don't forget that we are dealing with the Massachusets Institiute
of Technology, the premier engineering institute of planet earth.

Do MIT faculty/students/personnel actually require a "dummied down"
procedure just to upload videos? I would hope not.

Also, why have these distinguished MIT people given their approval
to the YouTube versions of their material? The YouTube versions
are totally useless due to the loss of audio sync that occurs within
each and every one.

Anyone can easily acquire these vids by using, for example, a plug-in
for Firefox. But that would necessitate loading each one into the browser
and then invoking the plug-in. Whew! What a job!

You're calling it dumbed down, as based on it not fitting your criteria
of what you believe is appropriate (read: the web stays forever in '95).
They obviously prefer people stream it from their site, that the viewer
stays on their site, as do most website owners.

> Also, why have these distinguished MIT people given their approval
> to the YouTube versions of their material?

Because it was the place to view video material. They started with YT before
they began hosting on Cloudfront.

<https://web.archive.org/web/20120820142528/http://web.mit.edu/hml/ncfmf.html>

They didn't go TechTV  until:

<https://web.archive.org/web/20150918065825/http://web.mit.edu/hml/ncfmf.html>

And before you whine about it again, as one would reasonably expect,
they're more interested in promoting their own "ODL Video Services"
than they are in promoting a 3rd party service like Cloudfront. They
aren't interested in being just a repository, they're more interested in
also being a destination (as a site owner you strive to keep viewers
on *your* site... go figure).

>  The YouTube versions
> are totally useless due to the loss of audio sync that occurs within

I don't disagree but that's a different issue. It was possible to do that
job correctly... they just didn't.

My point is you're whining about the effort it took to get something
for free... even when you offloaded that effort to someone else (owl).

And what did The Underground Marshmallow Person have to say about this long list of "convenient friends" who popped up at just the right moment? Most of the time he would try to lead the advocates to believe they're students of his who just happened to have not enough brains to see through his lies. Utterly impossible.

If Klaus Schadenfreude has 'some_file.doc' open in a word processor such as emacs and you want to change its name to 'windows.doc' via a preset script while selecting a VPN from a list, that might be of value, if only to see it attach to a Wayland display.

The Underground Marshmallow Person shows that all of them are not automated because some of them are keyed in to posts that occur in very specific ways with attempts to mislead on specific issues. Which can only be The Underground Marshmallow Person. Lots of morons are yapping about the GNU/Linux "desktop" as if it actually could happen. How is wasting potential gray matter tied to flatlining brain waves in any way going to lead to reasoned usenet posting?

It's easy to pick by bragging about a few exceptions differing from what is something more common like Windows. What holds more weight from an honest advocates standpoint are the common values. Over and over, the claim is he wants to "talk tech", but the guy spends most of his time whining about "obsession".

You're clueless!

Despicable Owl was once again a hypocrite by claiming he would not speak to Klaus Schadenfreude through trumpeting 'goodbye forever!' and then bombarding him via another poster. Once Klaus Schadenfreude realized how successful Despicable Owl is at playing 'injured party' he realizes this is not quite as insane as it sounded.

Why do you keep repeating yourself?

Nobody who isn't just using you for nefarious purposes sees you as anything remotely close to respectable. You have no one but me to blame for that.

It is simple to pick by focusing on a few exceptions differing from what's more general. What is more honest from an advocacy outlook are the non-exceptional operations. Translation of Klaus 'The Shill' Schadenfreude speak: Klaus 'The Shill' Schadenfreude's stupendous "troubleshooting expertise" side tracked him from a plugin he insists does not exists that everyone else is already using with this application. The only thing broken here is Klaus 'The Shill' Schadenfreude.

This is just a joy of Klaus 'The Shill' Schadenfreude's.

You're like a bullfrog in a library. We all see you there and just laugh at you. And you're so ignorant you keep rejecting it.

Everyone is Chris 'The Moron' Ahlstrom -- the oldest gag in the book. Spending time learning isn't wasted time. Claiming you know everything and attempting to convince Peter Köhlmann that it is true, as Chris 'The Moron' Ahlstrom tries to do? That is a waste.

I'm getting sick of the nonsense in here. I'm guessing the sock frenzy nonsense is unable to control his own actions.

Yup. It seems this is what we have to stop. People who clearly have no reason for being here other than to antagonize others.

How The Thing decides when to use the flood script for maximum impact http://usenet.sandman.net/misc/snit_flood. You likely think Debian handles the desktop well. Nope. Not compared to OS X.
