The issue is that back in the day, even though "486" didn't mean much to a person who knew nothing about computers, you knew that it was better than a 386 and that the clock rate of 66MHz made it at least twice as fast as a 33MHz one. Now, they don't even mention the clock rates much anymore and they are fairly meaningless even if they did. After all, most processors run at 2.5GHz but they might have four cores, six cores, eight cores or just two. They might also be different model such as an AMD A10 running at 2.5GHz vs. a Core i7 running at the same rate. Even then, one's a 6830 whereas the other is a 7820. Without using a web site to benchmark both, would a regular person ever be able to figure out if he was getting a good deal? -- SilverSlimer Free software advocate Minds: @silverslimer

Microshit, and its partners, supply binaries that are geared for a generic processor, i.e. no SIMD, no customized cache. etc. Any specific processor capabilities are totally unused. GNU/Linux, on the other hand, and especially Gentoo and its variants, allow binaries that are finely tuned for a specific processor. All the power of a Core i7, for example, can be fully realized. Most of the binaries on my GNU/Linux machine (Gentoo) could not execute on a different processor. What fool would ever use Microshit Winblows? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

That's nothing. The self-proclaimed "Linux visionary" of cola - Rex
Ballard - accused MS of:
* fraud
* extortion
* blackmail
* obstruction of justice
* bullying presidents
* making its first antitrust settlement offers to the state of New
Mexico because Gates was arrested there for speeding
* getting Stallman kicked out of his MIT lab/office
* hiring MS-friendly people to get Linux advocates assigned to dead-end
jobs
* deciding elections
* ordering embezzlement
* committing perjury
* using their editorial control over 3 networks to shift news coverage
away from the MS antitrust trial
* controlling $200 billion in advertising each year
* maintaining legal control over all info on your computer
* pulling ads from mags that praise Linux or Solaris
* losing paperwork so OEMs can't get permission to install 3rd party
software
* disabling Stacker
* threatening to expose CIOs for piracy
* disallowing OEMs to install Linux
* locking out open source apps
* causing widows and orphans to go to bed hungry
* funding the overthrow of Germany, France, almost England, USA,
Afghanistan, Pakhistan, Iraq, and Japan.

If the hobby code wasn't shit it might be a threat. As it is, you can't
even give it away.
