...yes but how "elegant" or "sophisticated" is it when you do need it?

Dealing with external devices on a platform like the Mac must be harsh
when you're all so fixated on things like appearances.

It probably doesn't help that USB optical drives need 2 powered USB ports.

How elegant or sophisticated does it have to be the 3 times I used it? :)

Actually it is just as good as doing it any other way.

Nope, it just doesn't matter when you never, or nearly never, need to
have an optical drive. Hell I have a USB floppy that I use more often
because my Lowrey Organ saves songs and registrations to floppy.

Well, tulips on an organ beats flowers on the piano. It'll take care of

Apple has the problem of trying to live in some fantasyland that hasn't
quite arrived yet. It's funny because Apple users are mindless consumers that
have to be led around by the nose. They won't discover the next big thing on
their own or wonder what's been taking Microsoft or Apple so long to wise up.

The nice thing about the PC market is that you aren't held hostage to what
any one particular company thinks a computer should look like. I can buy a less
inelegant solution if I want.

Although some Mac users are knowledgeable, a good number of them seem to
go for Apple products because they are trendy. For me, a computer or a
'phone does not constitute a fashion item.

> The nice thing about the PC market is that you aren't held hostage to what
> any one particular company thinks a computer should look like. I can buy a less

One problem with Apple is that trying to make things easier sometimes
backfires in unexpected ways.  Their 'magic mouse' is one example;
scrolling in four directions is very easy but performing a right-click
does not always work and can be very frustrating when an action you
didn't want is performed instead. Another problem is using the 'magic
mouse' to shut down the computer; it is pretty much impossible to switch
the mouse off afterwards without accidentally clicking it, which wakes
the computer back up again. The obvious answer might be to close the
laptop instead in order to put it to sleep but that functionality has
broken since I updated my laptop to Mavericks.

In fact, the sleep function is broken more generally with Mavericks on
my Macbook (needed for work for DFS' information), often crashing the
machine.

If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would put
Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.

You are free to do that.
You won't though.
At least not with videos showing the bugs.

You'll Google for other people's bugs and post a list.

Of course I won't; I'm not an obsessive crank like Snit is.

On the other hand, since videos are so important to you, why don't you
provide videos demonstrating every negative thing you've ever claimed

You won't, though...

I'm proving her to be a hypocrite, not that it takes much effort. I
don't think that I have ever seen her substantiate any of her claims but
it is no secret that Linux users are held to a completely different

Considering Usenet's current state, I think we've long past the stage at
which the network can be used as a source of irrefutable information.
People can and probably should prove whatever they say with evidence but
it's mostly an exercise in futility. Just sharing our opinions, without
necessarily providing evidence, might be exactly what's needed to make
this network more interesting to newbies.

I often ask for people to back their claims with evidence and logic and
reasoning... which is considered horrible and has many people screaming at
me (including you). It is fascinating to me.

Your purposeful mischaracterization of what actually happens aside, people have a problem with you ignoring concrete proof of things; for example:

The proof you admitted you forged posting IDs (in my case, while simultaneously lying that I dared you to do it).

The proof that you publicly posted up private email exchange without permission from the other party (despite you claiming that you had no wish for them to become public).

The proof that you admitted to online sexual harassment.

And many, many more... all of which you lie about despite concrete proof having being shown on numerous occasions. That you then expect people to believe all your BS has "expired" or some such (even though you're still doing it every day) is what makes you what everyone knows you are, a delusional, lying POS.

The bottom line here is you made a claim that you could show OS X being as
bad as Linux. That is utter BS. You cannot do so, because OS X is simply not
the festering pile a manure I show KDE to be.
