Hadron does not argue about choice. Hadron argues against "choice"
being an argument for crappy remakes of the same thing but with more
bugs. You're an idiot.

Moi positively is NOT trying to buy a brand computer, Putz.

RonB is a classic COLA Ass-Hole!

The Default choice for Ubuntu Mate 18.04 should be Mate, but it is NOT. Of course, the problem is the extreme amount of choice in the Linux DE. Moi unlike most of the newbies remembers working with his Dell OptPlex 150, which was a NON-multimeda grade computer that physically required the use of a CD installation. In short, I was suffering around with a true LXDE (ie, Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment).

Thus, Moi is in fact familiar with what a true Linux DE set up looked liked in the early days. The current situation where all Linux users are using monotonously big brand new PCs is absolutely revolting.

In the LXDE vs Xfce vs Mate world, the clear winner is MATE; but ONLY because the Xfce is too primitive and a headache to put up with.

Default layout in Ubuntu Mate 18.04 LTS should be MATE, but is NOT thanks to their insane Linux Developers. Should I laugh or cry?

RonB suffers from piss poor reading comprehension skills.

I don't grasp that. Darkness is darkness and there are tons who are OK with it. Too many are even musicians.

Perhaps you use it foolishly. Do you not understand the use of proxies? It was flatfish who flooded Klaus Schadenfreude's site hundreds of thousands of times and denied it. Dropping support for 16 bit apps is obvious.

Being self-governed as it is, bulletin boards will never go away but it'll never be common for the general user. Was that meant to be your best shot? What do you get out of lying? F 'The Fool' Russell is just thrilled that Klaus Schadenfreude is on the other end. Imagine if F 'The Fool' Russell walked up to a dog and delivered the punch line. It wouldn't be amusing. Another successful Red Hat test. That is if you count slow and buggy as a success.

I will defeat F 'The Fool' Russell with my thoughts. I have a little script I use as well, but it's a bit different.

Up until the last version of Ubuntu Mate their layout looked like Mate. There has been a lot of coverage of the fact that their Linux Developers had changed the layout to something else in version 18.04 LTS.

In spite of my feelings about Debian, I continue to install it for newbies who have had trouble with OS X. Both Sandman and Archimedes had their no-gos and their embarrassments. One presented it as supernatural and didn't do anything too shocking that could not be supported with made up data. i3wm is likely my second favorite DE and the only one I recommend to Mac newbies. Primary interface is Unity, though. Lots of desktop effects is all you need after you learn the basics.
