I imagine that to really appreciate Linux, you need to be a programmer.
For the typical user, I have to admit that the benefits aren't too clear
outside of "you can't get viruses."

Well, I can't claim that I haven't experienced the same. The moment I
start working again, it becomes painfully clear that Linux doesn't fill
my every need.

Right... when I try to use Linux I find it simply does not offer me the
same level of choice for many of the tasks I do and as a system as a whole.

As a Windows user I can use Libreoffice or Microsoft Office.
As a Windows user I can use Photoshop or gimp.
And so forth.

The Linux user does not have that level of choice which is why Linux users
start talking of vi, emacs and so forth as if they are viable, attractive
alternatives to a true word processing program.

A lot of truth to that... though of course you can use vi and emacs on
Windows and macOS, too.

The cult-like herd of convenient friends value the lowest common denominator above choice and productivity. Open source is only cost effective if your time has no value. He is as incompetent as Jeremy. Jeremy was once again a sophist by having the pretense to not argue with Klaus Schadenfreude via vehemently proclaiming 'goodbye forever!' and then ambushing him via a 3rd party.

I am not irked, to the contrary, I am enjoying watching because Jeremy's nonsense is so obvious. He purposefully did not mention all the benchmarks that he would quickly poo poo... and we all know why, Jeremy is too stupid to see why. At least he has morons in his corner ;)

Can you stop begging for my attention?

Emacs on Windows sucks generally thought its doable.

If you can find the time to learn the Emacs paradigm it rewards for
life. It really is an amazing infrastructure to work with.

Jokes aside there are many great "new" initiatives. MELPA works really
well for a package manager. Lots of core components have been
reworked. Once instnce of the daemon and Im connect to email via gnus,
irc via erc, even twitter via twittering-mode. flyspell, flycheck are
superb. And the benefit is you are using the same keystrokes etc in all
modes. log with org mode from any text based interface, latex work,
coding, etc etc. It works. Its not the best for debugging any more - gdb
is crap : youd be made to use anything other than intelliJ these days
for large code bases.

It's antiquated crap. If you've never used a real modern debugger you
wouldn't know. If you seriously don't know this then google.

God forbid we have some turd now repeating the 70s mantra about how you
do it right then you don't need a debugger. A debugger with HW breaks and
watches is a HUGE advantage when developing and familiarisation with a
large code base.

Time to blame the cult-like herd of convenient friends! Why does Flooder Steve Carroll focus on Jonas Eklundh's ego so much? Now that nobody is talking to Flooder Steve Carroll, he's making it sound like he's achieved some great victory -- when in fact, people are just sick of his shit.

This is clearly a hobby of Flooder Steve Carroll's. Flooder Steve Carroll is regularly seen insisting "GOOGLE HAS NOTHING" when it comes to details on Jonas Eklundh's post where it is written with other words... but Flooder Steve Carroll is just too dozy or lazy to deduce any advice he reads.

And gdb has those. There are also several GUI wrappers for gdb if you
need that sort of thing. You still haven't said what is wrong exactly
you think is wrong with gdb. Does something not work right, or do you
just not like the default interface. Personally, I like it.

So does virtual desktops.
Linux's implementation is much better.

For the most part I am happy with the way macOS does it, with the full
screen apps being tied to it, but I wish macOS had a better "pager" and
allowed you to name workspaces. For most it is a non-issue, but I can
certainly see where there are Linux options which have benefits in those
areas.

Indeed, and this, with them finally built-in to Win 10.

Even before that, "Hadron" would not concede the Linux advantage.

"How would virtual desktops make windows more 'useful'?", he asked.

"Virtual desktops work just fine on Windows too.", he wrote

Sheesh, what a transparent M$ shill and asshole.

I like the pagers offered by many Linux solutions, but other than that I
mostly like the macOS way better -- where the full screen solution is
tied to the workspace solution.

Gnome3 workplaces work very well with multi displays. I use my laptops
built in and then a large external using a docking station.

It wasnt the case in the past.

Cool. Last few versions of macOS have some bugs with their multiscreen
solutions (odd things you can run into if you have full screen apps on
different displays and the computer sleeps and wakes up). It is not a
HUGE deal but it is enough where I have a quick script which resets
things (turns on mirroring and then turns it off). Should not have to do
that.

With that said, what I was talking about was being able to get almost
any app and put it into full screen mode -- do that and it gets its own
workspace. It is a pretty cool feature.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

So, yeah, I buy into my own make believe world, fully knowing Klaus Schadenfreude has been fooled, because it makes me reconsider my script, improving it. Why does Klaus Schadenfreude focus on his own ego so much?

This is something beyond you. LOL!

What do you get out of lying?

Snit obviously has much wisdom to show and he apparently wants to provide screencasts to help others. Of course this is maybe the least appropriate group for doing that because the majority of what he will get back is wailing, misleading and other BS.
