My wife has an iMac from 2007 (I think) with 4 GB RAM. There are times when it can get slow with Mavericks, but that was true with the previous OS as well and most of the time it is fine. The biggest and most annoying slowdown is when she has Safari open with a dozen or more tabs open. Then it can be slow and with the idea of background tabs no longer supposedly taking resources this makes little sense... so something is not quite adding up. I have not looked much into it, though. I should - it is the one place the machine is quite annoying. -- * Mint MATE: Trash, Panel, Menu: <http://youtu.be/C0y74FIf7uE> * Mint KDE bugs or Easter eggs? <http://youtu.be/CU-whJQvtfA> * Mint KDE working with folders: <http://youtu.be/7C9nvniOoE0> * Mint KDE creating files: <http://youtu.be/N7-fZJaJUv8> * Mint KDE help: <http://youtu.be/3ikizUd3sa8> * Mint KDE general navigation: <http://youtu.be/t9y14yZtQuI> * Mint / LibreOffice: <http://youtu.be/USU9iqppfto> * Win 8 / Word 2013: <http://youtu.be/z8gUL2TCcV4> * Mavericks / Pages 5.1: <http://youtu.be/D3BPWANQoIk>

OS X has changed a lot since 2000.... what made you think otherwise? In any case, what makes you think there is not something specific to your system? Try a different account. I also find it funny how OS X was not so bad for you until you decided I was evil for noting how an NRA video stands unrefuted... then suddenly it went from being a bit sluggish or whatever to being "so sluggish" and taking away your freedom and all the other stuff you have been pushing. Either you were holding back before to please me or you are making stuff up in a bizarre effort to annoy me (as if I am a representative of Apple or something? Who knows?). Any way you slice it: your claim of not being controlled by others is wrong - you allow yourself to be very much controlled your feelings. You use logic poorly. If true, sure... but no reason to think this is anything but your system.
Not even you have claimed it is widespread.
But even if true, this is a huge change from your initial claim:
White Spirit:
-----
If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would
put Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.
-----
You have *one* item you have no evidence for... you have no list (well, a
list of one item... LOL!). Nor have you shown where anything I listed was
"contrived".
> I was also amazed how many applications were removed due to the upgrade
> to Mavericks such as Java.
Applications removed? Oh, the first time you use a Java program you have it
installed... so what is the problem with that? Maybe the mild annoyance at
the *one* time of it doing this. Oh no!
> A number of configuration files were also completely overwritten, such as the

But Linux in general - no. Look at the suggested upgrade for Mint, the
second most popular distro. They suggest you back up your data, install from
scratch, and then copy your data back.
White Spirit:
-----
If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would
put Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.
-----
Your claim was simply a lie:

If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would
put Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.

But so far your "list" is an unsupported claim of crashing... made at about
the same time you admitted you spew BS just to troll. And that is what you
are doing... you backed yourself in a corner with your lies and are now
trolling to work to back out of your BS claim.

He is just being stupid. Of course a crash is an issue (and a bug, too!)...
but OS X does not crash a lot and even if it did this is a complete
back-pedal of your initial claim:
White Spirit:
-----
If I made a list of bugs and problems with Mavericks, it would
put Snit's largely contrived list of KDE bugs to shame.
-----
Your "list" is an unsupported claim that OS X crashes a lot. Compare that to
the massive number of problems I show with desktop Linux, all very well
supported with video proof.
